Ava's Island Cafe

This little hole in the wall has solid food but the atmosphere is messy. a simple place but everywhere was cluttered, the back was messy and the order boards were half erased. It was a bit disorienting. The place was also cold and we kept our coats on. If I was just commenting on the place it would be three stars. The food was four stars.

I was in town for my job and we ate there foe lunch and all I can say is this was the best Jamaican food I have ever had. Gluten free sugar free!! Delicious and the staff was awesome. Every time I am in town this will be my favorite place to eat it.

The food here is PERFECT!!! All food is gluten free and dairy free. The atmosphere and delicious smells transports you to Jamaica!! It's a MUST when you anywhere near Ft. Leavenworth, KS!

I liked Ava’s good enough. I had the stewed chicken. I hate to say it was only marginal. Maybe it was an off day because the other reviews are so good. I’ll give it another try and order the curry chicken. I’ll update my review at that time. The beef patty and coco bread was delicious though.

I really wish I could give this place ten stars! We stopped in on our way back from Atchison and we're overly blessed by Ava, her husband, and their amazingly delicious Jamaican cuisine. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants, and this one ranks up there near the top. We dug into the curry and the jerk chicken which were amazing, but afterwards Ava treated us to a sampling of the ox tail and the goat and even in my fullness almost ordered more. Can't wait to get back that way again soon. What a blessing of a spot and people! Thanks for an awesome food experience guys.
