not a spicy fan.
(May 11, 2023, 5:28 pm)I have frequented Rio Grande in Berea, KY for many years now, and it has cemented itself as the go-to Mexican restaurant in town for a multiple of reasons.
The food is delicious, cooked quickly and comes out as you ordered it, rarely have I ever had them make a mistake as someone who both dines in, and takes out on a semi-regular occasion.
One of the highlights for me is the staff, everyone I have encountered has been extremely kind and it gives a very welcoming atmosphere. The only downside is the price, which I feel as though is a bit too high considering the amount of business they get, and the fact that there are more competitors coming to town.
(April 28, 2023, 4:01 pm)I absolutely hate to leave another review , been here numerous times , and have always been impressed , until this past Thursday 4-27-23 .
Sat at our table , 10 minutes , before being waited on . Then I told the man ( bald guy ) waiter , what we wanted in one setting .. drinks , food , etc
The cook, brought the food out , and never saw him again !!
I totally understand , they were busy , but I saw him look at us , and he walked away ????
I'm definitely going back , because the food is awesome , I just really don't want the same waiter !

(June 20, 2021, 1:45 pm)After long hikes on the Sheltowee Trace, we are always on search for Mexican restaurants. We stopped in Berea to try El Rio Grande. The salsa was great (as was the tomatillo green salsa). The guacamole was excellent too! My wife, as a vegan, ordered the veggie fajitas, which were wonderfully tasty! I got the Burrito California which had sliced steak grilled with onions and peppers and tomatoes… it was sooo good. With the friendly staff, this place was a 5 star!
