The Neal House

My husband and I were the first couple to get married at The Neal House! The owners were fabulous to work with and VERY accommodating. I am in the Tourism industry and could have chosen many event spaces to get married, but working with the owners sealed the deal for me! We got married on the front porch, had our reception on the back patio and under the trees in the gorgeous backyard. It was absolutely perfect and just what we wanted! The long driveway as my bride entrance was a bonus (see photos). It's a gorgeous drive through horse country, too!!

Another reason we chose The Neal House was because our out-of-town guests could spend the night rather than stay at a hotel. Our guests still talk about the comfortable beds, huge bedrooms and baths (all bedrooms are suites!), and how much they loved all the space to spread out. We had 19 people spend the night, including us in the master suite on the first floor. Our guests loved that we had comfortable patio furniture from the sunroom setup under the trees and white lights in the trees, candles on the tables, and tiki torches for just the right amount of ambiance for a July evening wedding. For some reason, the men decided to celebrate with a cigar (not cigar smokers!) in front of the sunroom and turned out to be one of our favorite groomsmen photos. We also set up the cake in the sunroom and everyone came gathered around.

The caterers loved the huge kitchen for prep and the easy access to the patio for the buffet setup. Our musicians loved playing under the trees in the front and backyard. We were there for 3 days and not one single complaint! A bride can't ask for more than that! I have referred several brides to The Neal House and they have loved it!

We rented this house for a weekend for our son's wedding. It was truly amazing. Our entire extended family was able to stay here and be very comfortable. The beds are plush, the kitchen is spacious and the basement is huge and provides a lot of entertainment. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom which is so nice. It was very clean and everything was in working order. The owners are super nice, thoughtful, accommodating and are right next door if you need anything. You will be very satisfied if you stay here. We loved it.

All I can say is, WOW. We had a big group that came for the Derby, and Donnie and his wife were HANDS DOWN the most helpful, thoughtful, accommodating Airbnb hosts I've ever worked with (and I've stayed at a lot of Airbnb's with great hosts!). Donnie spent 7 hours mowing the lawn so it was in pristine condition when we arrived. They left roses and Derby glasses on the table. They put us in touch with local vendors to buy meat for the grill. Anything we could think of, they went out of their way to help. I was tempted to give the house a lower star rating for "Accuracy," because it was EVEN BETTER than it looked in the pictures. When my friends showed up to the house, they were in awe that this would be our home base for the weekend. And the humongous, well-manicured lawn is perfect for grill outs, lawn games, pickup football, etc. It's also right in between Louisville and many Bourbon Train distilleries, so it's a great spot if you're planning to really absorb the many gems of Louisville/Lexington. Thanks so much, Donnie! This was a trip we'll never forget.

We hosted family from out of town over the holidays for a reunion of sorts - folks from all over the country came in. They raved about the bedding and the mattresses and how serenely quiet each private suite was.

Everyone gathered in the fully equipped basement to play pool, board games and cards in the evenings. They could prepare meals as needed, gather in the library for conversation or find a quiet spot to read. All 15 LOVED their time at The Neal House and it will be forever known as “the mansion” by our family.

If you want a peaceful, playful, laid-back getaway with folks you love, stop looking. The Neal House is it. In the time it takes to drive up the driveway and climb out of your car, your blood pressure will have dropped significantly. You are surrounded by quiet, except the sounds of nature. Yet, you are close to anything you would need.
Walking through the front door is like walking into an old friend’s home. This place is spacious, but comfy. No doubt your group will congregate in the ample kitchen, like ours did, with the sounds of laughter and cooking. Until the dance party breaks out…
When we weren’t cooking and eating, we were walking around the property, playing games in the vast game room on the lower level, or simply enjoying each other in one of the many quiet spaces that allow you to connect and catch up.
The Neal House is elegant, accommodating, and tranquil. The memories we made there are amazing. We will definitely be back.
