Maria Mezcal Grill and Cantina

My second time here. The food the first time was typical mexican restaurant type food, the service was slow and i was just not impressed. Gave them another chance and I was plesently impressed the second time.

I ordered the mexican burger. Didnt expect much, just wanted to grab a quick bite and be on my way. I was licking my fingers by the time i finished eating this burger. The fries we good, but the burger was great. Loved the flavor, the size was right and the avocado just gave it that little something extra. Ill be back for another one soon.

Food was decent. Nothing exciting, nothing bad. Waiter was attentive and patient with my large group.

Only downside to atmosphere was that it was quite echo-y.

Stepping inside is a stark contrast from the run-of-the-mill strip mall typed parking lot. You're transported to cantina meets Barbie Malibu dream house with bright colors and modern decor/seating. Definitely mood-enhancing.

Some have told me they weren't happy with the pricing and while it's a little more costly than some other local Mexican eateries, it makes that up with generous portions and menu choices that'll have you saying "haven't had that before".

My personal choice was the Happy Fries Trio. Fajita steak, chicken and shrimp loaded fries with all the fixin's. Definitely filling and hits the spot when you want something different.

Kids meals left a little to be desired from an adult point of view. However, they were kid friendly, reasonably priced and devoured without complaint so it's a win-win. The kids meals also have more of a variety of choices than other locations visited recently.

House margaritas on the rocks are top notch. 👌

Only con we had - the 4 place tables are a bit small. The outside ones were larger but 100+ degree temps made that an easy choice. Crowd or melt. 🤷‍♀️

Can't speak highly enough about the food. It was simply fantastic. I always order Chili Rellino for my first time at a Mexican restaurant..this was the best I've ever tasted. Cheese sauce was smoky and rich without being heavy. Their salsa is very good. Just enough slow heat. I'm really looking forward to going back.

First time eating here tonight. Good food! We had carnitas tacos, birria tacos, and the Maria Mezcal enchiladas. The tacos were big portions - larger than your typical street taco. The cheese enchiladas were a little better than the ones I've had elsewhere - the steak, beans and rice were more standard faire. Good stop if you live in or near Livingston.
