Historical place, lots of interesting information. Unfortunately the weather was not very good. Very nice service of the facility. Worth seeing.
Awesome tour and good history. Do recommend.
Chalmette National Cemetery is one of the most unique National Cemeteries I have ever visited. Not quite 100 Yards wide and 1,000 yards long there are 12 ranks of graves on either side of the single road the bisects the cemetery. The cemetery contains over 15,000 Americans, 6,773 unknown, veterans of every war between 1812 to Viet Nam, including one who fought in the Battle of Chalmette.
Great historic site. You can drive around the battlefield at your own pace and read the different placards posted. Inside the visitor center the park rangers were more then helpful and seemed eager to share their knowledge with whoever wanted to listen. Also, inside the visitor center they have a couple movies explaining the battle and historical artifacts you can read about. There was no fee for the site but they did have a small gift shop you can purchase some souvenirs at. Will definitely visit again just not in the middle of summer.
