My brother-in-law in law is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and chose the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery for his location of eternal rest. It was a wonderful choice. The grounds are maintained very well, is peaceful and of course, very respectful to the veteran and their spouse.
Quite possibly the nicest cemetery in the Slidell area. They take great care of the grounds. It is quite peaceful. A well deserving place of rest for our veterans.
My dad is buried here. Beautiful peaceful resting place. I love to visit with him. Always neat and clean and the staff is so helped and pleasant. I salute 🇺🇸
We recently laid my father to rest here. It is a beautiful, well-kept establishment. A few things that you should know about this place if you are planning to use the services:
They are very strict about burial times. This includes a transitional military flag presentation. However, the ceremony is only about 15 minutes. Make sure that your family is there on time. Be prepared for this because it is very quick. Afterwards, plan to meet somewhere close outside the cemetery for a family brunch. We started at 10am and we left around 10:30. I watched from a distance as my dad was placed in his grave by the employees. There are several places near that can accommodate your family. You can visit the cemetery any day before sundown. For a veteran, these services are free. There is a fee to have a spouse buried there. We were told 750. Now the burial doesn't include funeral home services. Those services can range from 3000 to 10000, depending on what you want done. I don't believe they have burials on weekends. There are also events that you can attend like a Christmas wreath ceremony. Don't buy expensive flowers because the ground keepers will remove them when they maintain the area. They also have an area for cremated remains. Those were full at the moment, but they are building more. Hope this helps.
I attended this Cemetery on Memorial Day. I do not have anyone buried there but stopped by to pay respects. The headstones were shiny clean, sidewalks were spotless, grass freshly trimmed and facilities ready accessible to all attendees.
