A MUST SEE PLANTATION.
We visited late May. I'm from England Marlene from Iowa. We toured the grounds then took the official tour. Our tour guide was excellent.I was amazed to learn ,back in the day the Plantation employed it's own doctor on site. We found it hot being outside for more than 30 minutes yet the slaves sometimes walked up to 7 miles before starting work! We didn't realise THE LONG HOT SUMMER, starting Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward was filmed 35 minutes away in Clinton, LA.Otherwise we would have visited there as well.
Very nice old plantation house from 19th century. Visit of the house that has been renovated as it used to be. Good explanation. Too bad the cotton and cane fields cannot be visited
The woman who checked us in gave us a map of St. Francisville and told us where to eat. She was very sweet and accommodating. Beautiful grounds but they were a bit unkept. Too hot in May even lol but love the history and the atmosphere.
What an amazing history lesson , beautiful property , amazing story . Polly was awesome .
Don’t forget to say hello to BOB !
This place is amazing! The gardens are magical. The house is an amazing and emotional history lesson. Our tour guide was fabulous. Very well worth the time and money. We hope to go back again in the Spring to see the gardens in full bloom!
