“Love love LOVE sweet generations. I had the absolute best customer service experience with this bakery! I was in town in February looking to do some cake tasting. I had gone to two bakeries that I just knew off the top of my head and after scheduling tastings at both, I show up for them to tell me they would be closed on my wedding week (week of July 4th). After asking around for recommendations, I had two people mention sweet generations. I gave them a call and asked to schedule a tasting. The owner told me they usually did tastings on certain days but I was leaving before those days to go back home. She squeezed me in anyway and got me on the schedule for a tasting the day before we left Louisiana. The cake was DELICIOUS and it was the one thing I looked forward to from February until July. I ordered a 3 tiered cake with Pineapple, Bavarian Cream, and strawberry fillings on each of the different tiers. We also ordered a chocolate grooms cake with chocolate buttercream icing. On the day of the wedding, the cakes were delivered with no issues and tasted just as good as when we had the tasting. I would recommend Sweet Generations a thousand times over and I’m so glad we chose them for our cakes. I plan to go back to sweet generations every time I return home to Louisiana.”

“On our way back home from a daycation, we decided to stop for breakfast in Slidell. We were very intrigued and inquisitive about La Pines Cafe. We had seen and heard of it being on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. So glad we did. As we walked up to the cafe, we saw a crowd of people waiting outside the cafe. For a Sunday right in the peak of the breakfast rush, we anticipated waiting for a little bit. (That was fine) But... We didn't! We were quickly seated and was asked our drink orders and handed some menus. As we looked through all the amazing choices, we decided to get... Me: The Chicken Fried Platter Breakfast with 2 over easy eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. She: The Garden Omelet(Pepper Jack Cheese, Onions, Artichokes, Tomatoes, Spinach, Mushrooms) with some toast. “Long over due review! Soooo I’m Italian and VERY picky about Italian restaurants but we we finally found a winner!! Yes we drive from Baton Rouge but it’s absolutely worth it. Our first visit was in October for our anniversary dinner. We had the place to ourselves basically. We had such a sweet waitress who helped me with the menu (I’m recovering from eye surgery) She was very attentive and we never needed to ask for anything. Our last visit was last month and I was honestly impressed that the consistency of food and serve are STILL excellent. You can taste how fresh the ingredients, food and sauces are. You WILL have PLENTY of leftovers to dream about until the next day. The drinks are stiff without the stiff price too. We met Giavanna (the owners daughter) who was very helpful with my menu choice… Do yourself a favor and order the Carmella (named after her sister) and order dessert even if it’s to go. As a home baker I can tell you I rarely order dessert because it’s something generic and premade. Here the cake layers are light & fluffy, fillings and frostings aren’t too sweet. The tour guide did a great job telling the history and answering our questions. The oak trees are massive and the grounds are covered with these beauties. “Local chain's quirky drive up location. If you live in West end this is the closest and fastest place for coffee. Walk up/drive up only with no seating so don't think you're sticking around. If you want a hang out with the same coffee they have another location on Vets that does have seating and wifi that's pretty close. The frozen pucchino is like a frapuccino and a vanilla frosty had an amazing child but super sweet. Otherwise they have all the basics and are proficient if not inspired baristas.”
