“Nice new play equipment. Soccer field and baseball diamond. Not the best kept fields, but that's okay. Soggy in some parts after rain. Not a ton of parking, but I get the sense it's usually more than adequate. And a little walking path through the edge of the woods. All in all, a good little park.”

“Really pleasant, easy hike. Almost completely flat with occasional views of the river and some benches. It starts across from the contact center in the butterfly garden on the boardwalk.”

“Nice little community pool. Friendly lifeguards are attentive but everyone still needs to keep an eye on their kids. Pool noodles and small toys allowed. Great wading area transitioning into 2 ft section lines up with a 4ft deep section, so you can watch your kids play without having to squat in a kid's area. Decent sized parking lot and some street parking. No grills or snack bar so pack a lunch! Bathrooms have individual shower stalls.”

“Kayaking here is great! The waterways offer awesome views and the waters here are full of life. Kayak fishing is also great here. If your a first time kayak angler, this is a good river to pratice on. In the summers, I suggest getting here early so you can launch with the high tide and get out on the water before noon if at all possible.”

“Jug Bay is one of the more underutilized and tranquil parks in the DC region. The $6 donation is absolutely worth it for the Beech Trail alone. That trail is quiet and features mature undisturbed forest and several areas with massive beeches, tulip poplars, and oaks.”

“This is truly a hidden gem in the hunting world. Not many people know that they can hunt here. You must have all applicable state hunting licenses and stamps and buy a hunting permit through Meade Natural Heritage Association to hunt on the refuge. You also must check in and out through hunting control. Maryland Weapons qualifications are required to hunt deer on the refuge. However, the cost of the permit covers costs of weapons qualifications once you qualify at the refuge qualifications ranges.”
