“Jay, from Armored Waterproofing, was the 3rd contractor I had at my house to find out where and why water was coming into my basement, causing my carpet to be wet, not everywhere, just in spots. To rule out a water pipe leak, I first contacted a Master Plumber. Strangely, he never bothered to look at any of the plumbing. However, this was partially my fault as I kind of insisted that the water on my carpeted basement floor was nowhere near water pipes. Although, wouldn't you think he would check anyway to rule that out? He recommended I contact a Waterproofing company. So the second contractor I called, a competing Waterproofing company, came by but he never bothered to look at the areas on the floor to see where the water was coming from. He pretty much had it in his mind to do an overall analysis of my basement concluding in a hour long presentation that cost 20K+ to fix the water coming into my basement. Of course I wanted a least a 2nd opinion on Waterproofing so I called Jay and thank God I did. He was the only contractor that helped me move my piano out of the way so we could pull up more carpet. Once we did that, he opened the access door on the wall to the main water valve (which was partially obscured by the piano). In less than a minute, we found that the reason my carpet was wet in various spots was caused by a pin hole leak on my main water line, located just below my water shut off valve. This slow leak was aimed straight down the inside of my wall, never hitting the wall itself. The water was soaked up by my carpet padding and spread the water to low areas of my basement, eventually showing up on top of my carpet in spots, not near water pipes. Morale of this story: always check your water pipes first for leaks, even though the pipes may not be near where your water is first appearing. And, ALWAYS, get at least 3 contractors to come and check things out before signing ANYTHING. Jay is the MAN, honest, trustworthy, you will not be sorry calling him to check out your basement water problems.”
