“Although we were originally turned away on my last visit (could only imagine why -mixed race), I have come here for years. This is a great family park. Not a very frilly place just a great place to collect and rest your head for a few days. They have events from time to time and they are outside of this very quaint small town. I have done RV and tent camping here. Nice hot showers and coin operated laundry room on site.”

“Camped here. It's a very nice spot along the river. Like all the C&O canal campsites there is a picnic table an outhouse and a water pump. It was a very peaceful time.”

“Nice little campground right between the Potomac River and C&O Canal Tow Path. There's a boat launch here and vault toilet toilet too and the tow path is accessible via a ramp. There's a payment dropbox location but the box had been removed and no envelopes so free camping with tables and fire pits but no potable water. There were mosquitos. There's a one lane tunnel to get to the campground and you need to veer to the right at the fork as you enter from the main road.”

“Decent site. Can't beat the free price. Was a little overgrown when we stayed. Just a warning for weekends: the West Virginians across the river like to get drunk and yell into the night. Best thing we did was stop at Fort Frederick state park beforehand. The history there is cool, plus they have showers on the outside of the bathrooms.”

“Another great campsite on the c&o. The water pump works well and is quiet. Lol I hate waking everybody up pumping water for coffee. Most the pumps are very squeaky.”

“We purchased our travel trailer with adventure in mind and our trip to the Hagerstown KOA provided us with a lot of excitement. On our second night the creek flooded due to a TON of rain and the only access road to/from the campground was cut off. We didn't make it out for a few days and didn't get to see all of the local sites we wanted but we had a great time relaxing, talking and trying to keep a fire going. We wanted to try our hand at fishing but the torrent of flood water in the creek was a sign of futility on that regard. Oh well, maybe next time. The campground itself is a bit rustic compared to some others we have visited, but it has a unique charm all it's own. Cell coverage there was excellent and we were able to stream movies, work, and surf the web between the raindrops. The staff was wonderful and friendly. They provided us with updates on the flooding and great conversation to pass the time. The trip was not what we were expecting, but probably what we needed. I have a feeling we'll be back...”

“Absolutely fantastic. We loved the location. We loved the staff. We loved the activities they provided. We loved the pricing. We will definitely be making this a yearly family trip. Their water park is perfect for children and adults. They also have a little convenience store and small cafe.”

“Nice rough camping site. The C&O Canal are good at keeping the water treated and the portapots clean.”

“Nice camp site easy access from Taylor's Landing. Great view of the river However if you are coming in from the water the bank is very steep and and about a 15 foot climb, bring a length of rope i.e. throw bag to help pull your water craft up.”

“This a great biker campsite close to the river. I can't comment on the bugginess since I have not been here during the summer, but it seems really nice. There is a portapotty, fire ring, picnic table, and a fair amount of flat ground for a tent. The water pump is missing it's lever and does not work.”

“Nice shelter right next to a parking lot. This is great for when you want to do a little camping but want easy access so you can lug food or firewood you normally wouldn't when you're doing some proper backpacking. The shelter has always been clean when I've been there. There's some overflow camp tent pads nearby but they are kind of annoying to pitch in and are on a slope.”

“One of our favorite spots to camp near DC. All spots along the river, great biking for kids along the toe path, even an open field (dried, cleared portion of the canal) where the kids can play soccer, etc. Note you cannot park at sites and at a minimum have to cross the canal and in some cases walk a ways along the toe path to get gear to your site. A wagon is very helpful. Also, the bathrooms are all down near sites 5 or 6 so it can be helpful to have bikes if you're at the higher numbered sites. It's worth the effort though.”

“Stopped here for break. If going to stay walk back towards the camp site, pass the privy for the best campfire pit I saw on the MD section. The stone chairs were a great spot to throw down a pad and kick the feet up.”
