“Have enjoyed stopping here during my recent walk on the towpath on October 27th. The campsite ???? is well maintained, organized and taken care of by superintendent Kevin Brandt and his super awesome staff and crew. It is located about a half mile east of the historic whites Ferry.”

“Was quite enjoyable during my time there in October 2016. Quite accessible to drivers, bikers and hikers, has amenities of porta-potties, fire pits, tables, and a water pump treated with iodine. Great view of the river compared to others around.”

“Great family place to have a good relaxing nude weekend. I have been here a few time. The gardens and grounds are beautiful to walk through. The pool is large and great for playing water volleyball. There is also a kiddie pool. All the people here are so friendly, open welcoming. I plan to visit many more times.”

“One of the better campsites, whenever I felt like I needed it, I simply walked down to the riverbank to clear my mind. I camped here in September of 2017 though, at the time the area was very, very sweltering.”

“Kind of challenging to find if you have never been in the area, but a really nicely set up campground. We stayed two nights, and as a low budget traveling family we found it a great spot from which to base ourselves for a quick visit to Baltimore. The facilities were excellent. Great for kids and there is a playground for them in the day use area (not in the camping area itself, but at entrance area). Sites were very well kept and maintained, one of the best we had seen on our 2-3 months traveling and camping in the northern US states.”

“We stayed one night at a tent site. We arrived jusssst before 7:00pm to check in and they were very hospitable despite causing them to stay a little later than usual. The general store sold anything anyone could have possibly needed (firewood, can openers, marshmallows). The sites were well marked and we located ours with the map just fine after dark. The ground was quite level for the tent and the picnic table. Only one vehicle is allowed per site but there was room for at least two since we didn’t have a pavilion tent or anything. We paid extra to have site access to water and electricity but didn’t need it, even though it made me feel better to have access in case we did. Pack in, pack out. The building with the bathrooms and showers were a very short walk from the site and I was delighted to discover that they were heated! We didn’t have any kids with us this time but the games behind the general store seemed like they’d be a lot of fun for a weekend family camping trip.”

“Staying here was peaceful and I enjoyed learning the history of the area. The duty ranger wasn't very helpful when I asked if could extend few hour because of work. But other than that staying here was a pretty good bargain. Oh and if you stay in the fall watch out for the falling acorns. They dented up the tonneau cover on my pickup.”

“A great place for tent camping. Lots of convenient amenities including a camp store. Nature trails throughout the grounds and other parks a short car ride away. Reasonable prices and a discount for local residents.”

“I can't say enough good things about this place. My daughter and I had a BLAST in one of the cozy cabins (a real hit with her as she'd never been camping). Everything was clean and updated. The bathrooms were the nicest of any I've ever seen at a campground. Management was both professional and friendly. We had to reschedule at one point and a two room cabin was not available for the new dates that we needed. We went ahead and booked a one bedroom and decided to just make the best of it (total party was myself, my young teenage daughter, my friend and her 2 young teenage daughters). At check-in I guess there had been a cancellation and a 2 bedroom was available. The manager upgraded us back up to that without charging anything additional for the more expensive cabin. We were all very comfortable in the 2 bedroom and I think being cramped into the 1 bedroom would have put a major damper on the entire experience. It was so much fun. If ever in the dc area again we will definitely be staying there again.”

“This is a private club dedicated to conservation. It was open as part of Montgomery County Heritage Days. They have a fishing pond and a historical property we visited. They also have a monthly dinner open to anyone. Everyone was very nice.”

“One of the Top campsites either private or military we have stayed in. The sites are ample and modern. The showers and laundry are big and clean. The only drawback is cell& tv reception. It HAS to be NSA, because right outside the gate we get fantastic reception.”

“Beautiful campsite on Potomac and C&O Canal Tow Path. Shady but plenty of cleared space. Fire circle, water pump, grill, recently serviced out house, amazing view of river. Very quiet and tranquil. Right on tow path.”

“Awesome location for a large gathering. We held our Church's annual cookout and we're a mega church the location has enough space for parking, setup of games and activities by ages, plus a big covered area for food serving and/or sitting. We normally do all the serving under covered area and put tables on the side. Unfortunately this year we had to also place chairs under the area as well because of the rain but their was the space to do that. I would have given the location 5 stars; however, they're do not allow you to have inflatable bouncers.”

“Really great place for a cheap stay outside of DC with tons of beautiful nature and really nice campgrounds. All the campgrounds come with a fire pit and a picnic table. Very close to the city ~15 minute Lyft. A lot of really nice trails that are maintained well if you need an escape from downtown as well”

“What a beautiful, quiet, and small campsite. It’s really tucked in and hidden behind a trail, which means it can be quiet, but also have a lot of foot traffic. There are no more than 8 sites so be sure to get your spot locked in! I LOVE that this is right along the river. It’s also incredibly close to Great Falls, if you want to walk 3.5 miles on the towpath to get there.”

“Exceeds expectation! This place was so great to call home for 3 months. Every amenity you can think of. Clean and accommodating. Staff is amazing to work with. Even went direct to my site and let my dog out when dog walker didn’t show up. Pool and splash park very clean. Sauna and hot tub as well. Cafe on site was clean and delicious. On site mechanics are certified and unbelievably fast to help with any concern. Just a hop on the bus in the park to metro to DC or a short drive. Just down the road both ways are grocery stores, hardware stores and just about anything else you could need. Love this place.”
