Nice park - local sticker or fee required during the season. Lovely beach. Good for cookouts. Picnics. Nicely maintained ball field before the entrance wit street parking. Lots of open grassy areas for fun and games. Playground, sheltered restrooms.
I decided to take a Sunday drive and ended up at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester Massachusetts. I pulled into the parking lot and proceeded to take stroll along the tree lined park. Plenty of things to do as this park is very big. Lots and lots of picnic tables to enjoy the day and have that BBQ or a just to celebrate someone special day. Basketball courts and a baseball field overlooks the harbor and you can sit on the hill and enjoy a game of softball or baseball or just take in people watching all while staring out at the ocean. I will be going back again.
Had quite a hike here with a friend who used to live in Gloucester. Loved the old rocks set up as stairs, and winding pathways. Made for a more rigorous hike. We had a picnic lunch of lobster salad rolls sitting on the benches overlooking the Ten Pound Island lighthouse. Relaxing watching the various boats gliding in and out of the harbor. Wishing that people would want to maintain the landscape by throwing their glass out vs smashing it.
Stage Fort is a beautiful park right on the water. We usually visit for the Gloucester Blues Festival. it's a very relaxing place to sit under a tree, enjoy the sounds of the water, and watch the boats go by. Both rocky and sandy beach areas to enjoy was well, and a great ice cream stand on site.
Great beach! Great views! Great scenery! But has cash only parking and the beach fills up VERY quickly. Would definitely recommend, but not a 5 star beach.
