My family came here for my mother-in-law's birthday. We were seated in a room with a few other tables, all who also had birthday's in their party. Our waitress was very friendly and even told us some history of the restaurant. Bread and butter was given, and the bread was SO delicious! I love bread, and this was definitely top of the list. I ordered the lamb, and I was pleasantly surprised with the serving size. We were all comfortable full, but not enough for dessert! My father-in-law ordered the creme brulee and my fiance had the apple crisp. I tried both of the desserts, and the creme brulee was my favorite. If you're in the area, or you want a quiet atmosphere with a peculiar history, than go to the Hart House!
Stepped back in time for a wonderful cocktail and a full plate from an extensive menu. The first time at the Hart House did not disappoint. Very pleased the martini that was enjoyed from the comfort of a cushy padded chair in the cozy tavern.
This place is New England! The building is one of the oldest buildings on the east cost. There is also a ghost. I didn't believe my friend and asked a few people on the wait staff about it. When I asked each person about it there face got very serious looking and then they nodded yes. Almost like they we're scared to say. I had the prime rib. It was almost as big as my head and it was maybe the best I have ever had! The bar area is my favorite place to eat in the winter. Dark, fireplace, big cozy chairs, great food and drinks.
I loved the atmosphere of the place, it felt completely like you had just stepped into colonial New England without being obnoxious. I ordered the chicken pot pie, which was just okay, but everything else that my party ordered looked fantastic, especially the Shepard's pie. Our service was very fast, despite that the entire tavern portion of the building was full. But be warned - the portion sizes are huge!
It was a very lovely atmosphere, we were seated in the comfy leather chairs. My only complaint is that they are a bit low but that's a minor inconvenience at most. Really wonderful place to dine for a romantic dinner or intimate candle lit setting. It's a bit pricey but the portion sizes on the entrees easily make up for that!
