Kevin Fortunato Drum Lesson

Kevin has been our family's drum teacher for three years. He teaches my middle school aged son and me-- a middle-aged father. We have made great progress under Kevin's tutelage. Kevin is phenomenally precise in all aspects, combined with great sensitivity and humor. To say he is punctual would be an understatement. During the lesson he writes crystal clear assignments on paper, with music notation of key points, all in handwriting so perfect it almost seems computer printed. His published book, "The Big Little Drum Book" is excellent in teaching limb independence and brings in various musical styles. He gives very challenging assignments, and multiple times I have questioned whether I can really accomplish what he is asking for. Yet, somehow we have got past some major drumming milestones and for that I am grateful for his high expectations. Kevin is the real deal; I don't think you could do much better.

I have had a standing weekly drum lesson with Kevin Fortunato for more than 10 ten years. He is a PHENOMENAL instructor and over the years has become a great friend. I played other instruments previously and had multiple teachers, but no one has compared to Kevin when it comes to his passion for drumming, his sincere interest in his students, or his creativity when it comes to motivating those of us that require a "little extra" attention... Without Kevin I likely would have never played in so many school assembles, the rock band, or the jazz group; and I likely would have never realized my true potential as a musician. Kevin has been teaching my son for about 3 years. He keeps him engaged during lessons and motivated to practice between lessons, even rewarding him when he's mastered a song or met a particular goal. Kevin is flexible and accommodating with changes in schedule and does his best to squeeze us in if we need to reschedule. He always shows up on time and with a smile. We would definitely recommend Kevin!

My two boys have taken drumming lessons with Kevin for years and still love it. Kevin had them drumming songs they knew and liked right from the start which really hooked their interest. He must be a good instructor because it's obvious how my sons' skills have developed over the years. Kevin has an excellent rapport with my boys - he's funny, kind and encouraging.
