“My great grandmother Ford lived next to the railroad tracks for years. Mom always said it was a secret burial ground to hide how many settlers were dying. I have since disagreed with that idea, and now thanks to this site know its real name. The grave markers have interesting designs carved on them. You can either walk the tracks (turn left at the tracks and follow them) behind the visible older cemetery near the Bigelow Gardens retirement community, or walk over a small part of the tracks where it goes over a water way. My mother claims she got over being scared of heights by racing her sister, balancing on the railroad ties. We use to go every time we were up in South Lancaster on Saturday after church. If you’re in the area, this should take you 20-30 minutes. You shouldn’t break a sweat.”
