Ferndale High School

Toured this beautiful senior community. Formal dining room overlooking trees in park-like setting. Assisted living apartments are spacious with walk-in showers! Memory care and assisted living calendars with lots of activities, library, bistro and a grand piano! Thank you Joni for the tour.

Moved my 91 year old Dad here about a year ago. They under promised and over delivered. The place is new and modern which makes a great first impression which is great. As you know that fades fast. The most important thing is the care our love one receives. My Dad's care has been second to none. Great staff and well managed faculty. So glad we chose Legend.

Teachers were great, principal was great, the school was big and great, I graduated from there, and I sure do miss it.

I have lived in Ferndale since 2002 less than a half mile from school grounds. I did not go to the high school and do not have any children in the school. I live adjacent to the school. So my review is on my interaction with the grounds, and for voting.

1. The grounds and exterior of the school are well maintained. I run and drive past it daily and have rarely seen a light out or any rubbish in 15 years.

2. The lawn and fields are well maintain both during the year and summertime.

3. I have used the school for voting about 10 times and it has always been clean and well maintained. Obviously the building is starting to look a bit dated, but nothing was broken or showed wear, poor upkeep or lack of fresh paint/carpet.

4. The sports field is in excellent shape. And the PA system works a bit too well, I heard their game clearly from my house which from the field is about 3/4 of a mile away. Also the field is secured so don't expect to use the track or play a pickup game. With the money they put into it I am glad they spent the money to protect the investment.

5. Bonus info. Ferndale High School band is very good and practices ALOT.... If you live as near as I do expect to hear them for months each year practicing to 9pm at night and on the weekends.

The late 1970s was a wonderful time to be a Ferndale Eagle! Great teachers and terrific programs: Choir, madrigals, band, Frau Rakowsky's German, "Bojo's" honors math, "Roz's" AP English, "Bessie's" NHS...It was a golden age!
