Huntington Woods Park & Rec

The Burgh Historical Park

Address: 23960 Civic Center Dr, Southfield, MI 48033, USA

Park

“Cozy little neighborhood park with an old church that serves as an event space. It's always clean, and they keep up with the landscaping. The only con is the past several times that I have stopped by, the fountain wasn't running. I'm not sure if it's under repair or permanently closed. It is a cute feature of the park, and I hope they get it running or replaced. Nice place for wedding or engagement photos or just a quiet place to spend an afternoon. FYI: There's no area for kids. I have seen a volleyball net but no swings or playscape. Also, there are no public restrooms that I have seen. They do have them inside the old church, but I don't believe they are open to the public.”

“One of the nicest courses I've played in Michigan to-date. I will definately come back here. $49 to play on the weekend. Carts actually get you around. Course in a great shape and you have many breathtaking views from tee boxes on the front 9. I shoot mid 80s and it was plenty challenging with a couple par 4s that make you think twice about pulling out the driver.”

Park

Marsh View Park

Address: 3100 Clarkston Rd, Oakland Charter Township, MI 48363, USA

Park

“The lawns are very well maintained, with well maintained paved pathways. It is mostly a soccer and archery park, no hiking trails, or children's play area. The soccer fields are only to be used with a permit, so no practicing on your own. If stairs are an issue park at the east parking lot. There are two parking lots, which are good size for most days but if there are many sporting events at one time parking may be a problem. There is running water that they say is safe to drink but no running water for bathrooms. There are a few portable potties.”

Unger Park

Address: W Bellevue, Orion Twp, MI 48362, USA

Park

Cranbrook House & Gardens

Address: 380 Lone Pine Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304, USA

Park

“Have lived in the area for ages but this was my first visit inside Cranbrook House. We did a self guided tour but there were docents in every room to answer questions and give a little history on the family and the decor. The details in the wood carvings, the high end materials used in construction, and the influence of the artisans that were commissioned to create the decor pieces left us in awe. The gardens are amazing. The Japanese garden was magical. Take the time to discover all the grounds but wear comfortable shoes as you will definitely get your steps in as you wander the trails. Absolutely will be going back soon!”

Springfield Oaks County Park

They always keep the swimming area and beach nice and clean, plus they have multiple areas and depths marked off for swimmers of all ages to enjoy. They have lifeguards on duty, but you are not allowed to bring any flotation devices. There is a play area and park near the beach, changing areas, bathrooms, rinse off showers, walking path and trails, as well as a place to buy food/ice cream. “This is a fantastic walk especially for little ones who can't handle the miles and miles of trails at other places. Probably goes without being said but not ideal for strollers. There is so much to see and wildlife is all around. While we were there we saw mushrooms, bugs, foliage, trees, structures built by animals and of course some wildlife. Bring bug spray, and a water bottle. Don't forget to stop and read the markers along the way and take a picture by the Moose Tree!”
