“On May 14, 2026, a local near Michigan Central Station recommended an ice cream spot to me. Craving something sweet, my friends and I made our way over, only to arrive right at closing time. As we approached the entrance, co-owner Ruth kindly gestured that they were closed—but then opened the door just to hear us out. We explained that we had come based on a local’s recommendation and fully understood that we’d have to return another time. Moved by our story, Ruth invited us inside to at least say hello to her husband Tom, the other co-owner. We stepped in, just to show appreciation and let them know we’d respect their hours and be back. To our surprise, Ruth and Tom generously offered each of us a scoop of ice cream—letting us choose our flavors—and welcomed us with warm, genuine conversation. We talked about Detroit, the auto industry, Michigan Central Station, and more. It wasn’t just the dessert that made the visit special, but the hospitality and human connection they shared. Their kindness and the overall experience were truly remarkable. Ruth and Tom embody what it means to go above and beyond for their customers. I look forward to bringing others back to enjoy not only the delicious ice cream but also the cozy, inviting atmosphere they’ve created. The shop is family-friendly, with plenty of nearby parking, a clean and bright interior filled with natural light, and a welcoming space perfect for relaxing, meeting neighbors, or playing games together. “Had an absolutely amazing experience with The Bridal Studio! Britney was very easy to communicate with and so sweet! I had reached out about getting my dress cleaned and preserved, she responded promptly, answered all questions, and was accommodating to my work schedule! My dress came in and was cleaned and stored beautifully, and it was SO fast! Her space in downtown is absolutely ADORABLE. The outside has the appearance of an older Detroit building (charm that Detroit is known for), and inside of her unit is 100s of dresses and beautiful accessories. I wish I had known about her before I bought my dress, or I absolutely would have gone here for my "Say yes to the dress day!" But I am at least happy I got to use her for preserving my dress! Great place for your wedding needs!”

“Do yourself a favor and make George Gregory your new "GO TO" store. It has a great mix of new and trendy finds as well as all the menswear classics that never go out of style. As a chick, I can find both unique gifts for my boyfriend as well as a few things for myself! The owner, Caitlin, is super chill and really fun to talk to so definitely make sure to ask her for some advice on what to get!”

“I enjoyed my mother-daughter time at Brightly Twisted. I went with my Mom and we got personalized attention because we happened to be the only 2 in this particular Saturday class we attended. First, you get to practice tie-dye designs on scrap pieces, you can see from my photographs my Mothers heart shaped rainbow design. You can also see my test fabric scrap my yin-yang blue and pin heart. Those scraps will end up on a quilt and donated to the Children's Hospital. If you look at the pictures I posted you will see pictures of our process and of the store's interior. I will post pictures of our scarves at a later date. We had so much fun.”
