  My name is Rico Martinez my family the Martinez family was a big part of this beautiful church when I was younger I was baptized and made my communion here I was as well a alter boy for a number of years I've even helped my uncle who was a Employee here my family has had numerous weddings and family party's here my family was one of the biggest family's from the neighborhood so we knew this church very well. Unfortunately we moved away because of the deteriorating neighborhood in fact out family's home with the double lot with a home in front and a home in the back of the property are one of the very few buildings in the neighbourhood but just recently me and a few family members decided to return to the church on mothers day to show our kids our old family church and the neighborhood were we grew up boy things changed in the neighborhood known as delay it has deteriorated badly but holy cross was still there and more beautiful than ever brought back many memories thank u for not giving up on this beautiful church

  Wonderful, beautiful historic church. It still has some Masses spoken in Hungarian. This is a Catholic, Hungarian and Detroit gem.

Church History. The Holy Cross Hungarian Parish was established on May 8, 1905. It's founding by pastor, Fr. In 1932 the Daughter's of Divine Charity, a Hungarian Order of Nuns took charge of Holy Cross School. The St. Elizabeth Orphanage and the St. Elizabeth Home for the aged was established.
