Recommend! Follows all the F's: Fresh, Fast, Friendly! Have tried out almost all other sushi restaurants within miles of Sushi Q Downriver and Sushi Q outshines them all. Their products rates in the freshest (taste and quality surpasses the others), their service is quick and friendly (similar to most) but their prices are where I believe they really are better. Their rolls per price in quality and quantity is well worth it. Dining room is rather small but seats available to enjoy in house. Parking in front is limited but plenty available in back of building as well. Recommend giving then a try!
I ate in here a few weeks ago. Since it was right around the holidays, I decided to treat myself after shopping at Southland mall. I had been craving sushi for a while so I stopped at this place.
While I do think that the Black Pine (sushi place) just down the road a bit is slightly better, this place certainly isn't bad.
The service at Sushi Q is exceptional. They are very prompt, friendly and helpful. I ordered iced tea and every time my glass near empty, the waitress raced over to refill it. And though I am relatively familiar with sushi menu items, she highlighted and described everything that I told her I wanted.
I ended up ordering the daisy rolls. It came with a salad, which had excellent ginger dressing. It tasted like it had a hint of soy sauce and sesame oil in it as well.
The rolls that I ordered were decent. I requested that I the tuna was raw, which I do believe it was. However, I was hoping that the tuna was a whole piece and not chopped up and shoved into the roll. But that may be what a traditional daisy roll is.
I assume that this place does a heck of a carryout business. In comparison to Black Pine, Sushi Q seems to have a smaller capacity. Like most sushi places, they prepare the sushi in plain sight.
Overall, while the rolls that I ordered didn't particularly exceed expectation, the place is still very good and would recommend. Prior to this visit, I've ordered rolls and other items that were great. The place is also very clean and reasonably priced. The service though is exceptionally good.
OMG, the best sushi I have had down river. Bar none! The seaweed salad is awesome. I usually get the California roll because it's cheap, but also the salmon roll and hawaiian or tropical roll which is also super good. Basically you can't go wrong here. #1 SUSHI RESTURANT DOWNRIVER!
Large menu. Everything was good and fresh. They use fresh vegetables they buy everyday. You get a good amount of food. We had a few people, I think could have been owners, talking to us and checking on us. Everyone was really nice.
