This place is amazing!
I am a volunteer here, and the other volunteers are so sweet and caring. And the staff are so wonderful! Everyone is so willing to share knowledge and help everyone be successful.
I just can't say enough good things about the things I experience here.
From the interactions behind the scenes, to watching the kids transform before our eyes on these gentle and incredibly trained horses. It's like watching magic every time I go out there.
I know that there is science behind equine therapy. I've done some research myself. But to actually experience it is something that no book, no medical study or journal will ever be able to fully capture.
I see so much love, patience, mentorship, trust, gentleness and faith in each other... The horses in us. And us in the horses. It's like one big barn filled with healing for all who enter.
I volunteer at We Can Ride which is an awesome organization that helps disabled people enjoy riding and interacting with horses. WCR treats the horses very well and are always concerned with their health and well being. I have witnessed the joy of clients riding a horse. Imagine being strapped into a wheel chair all day. You can not look people in the face because you are sitting and your body doesn't move while in the wheel chair. Then you are lifted onto a horse above most people, higher than you are most of every day, and your body moves in rhythem with the horse. Then when you come down you get a horse hug as the horse gently nudges into your chest. It's an amazing place with amazing workers, volunteers and therapists.
I absolutely LOVE volunteering here! There are a ton of opportunities to expand your reach as you become more comfortable with the horses and clients. The instructor I always work with is Bethany and she makes you feel valuable and has a great rapport with the clients! It can be challenging at times but in the end it is so worth it!
This is a fantastic place. I moved to the city from the country (where I used to own and ride horses) for a job and was looking for a place to volunteer. Normally I've done soup kitchens, but here I was able to be around horses and help children enjoy the thing I love the most, riding horses. They are incredibly professional, accommodating, and helpful.
A very welcoming, engaging, and safe atmosphere. The people, as well as the horses, are AMAZING! I highly recommend volunteering here! It is such a rewarding thing to do, as you bond with the horses and people.
