Great place for a large group. Lots of space for camping and activities including a couple of open buildings to get out of the elements and be protected. There are also picnic tables and grills. Neither of the buildings have electricity, so don’t plan on using crock pots or electric kettles. There is a pump to get water as well as toilets that have hand sanitizer. There are great trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Trains go by at night, so if that would bother you, bring earplugs. Sarah Creek campsite is a favorite with our group.
As with any Three Rivers District Park, the area is well maintained, the swimming beach has shade umbrellas, adjacent is a dock, a fishing pier. The lake is surrounded by paved bicycle trails. There are horse trails also, but we have never used. The beach is accessed from the main parking lot, all handicapped accessible, but our kids prefer the wide staircase leading to the sand. I believe it to be the least crowded of all the Three Rivers District parks.
We reserved the beach side shelter for a family event. While the price seemed a bit steep, we really liked the place overall. Well maintained sandy beach, clean bathrooms near the beach, and clean park overall. Playground area kept the kids busy for hours. Bathrooms near the playground were outhouse style. Probably time to upgrade that.
Our 4 year old loved the play area! Lots of slides and things to do, very clean and well kept. Well maintained bathrooms as well.
Ample parking and handicapped parking. Colors are starting to change on the trees. Boat launch, picnic tables, porta potty. Very scenic spots at the park. Some grills there.
