Some days they are pretty close to the observation deck, and other days you would need binoculars or a camera with a good lens.

(January 3, 2022, 10:12 am)Breath taking to see Bison back in this area and they even have gophers that clearly are Minnesota's version of prairie dogs but they must have been pushed way out west because I have never seen them. Even if the bison are not there it is fun to see those gophers. I have seen tons of flies here which is normal since bison are such huge animals so be careful of the flies. Better than dealing with mosquitos though.
