“As a southern boy who grew up in the panhandle of Florida not all that far from New Orleans, I have to say that this food was outstanding. We decided to look for a soul food restaurant on our way through Kansas City and the Southern Kitchen popped up on google maps. We got to the restaurant out 815pm and it was empty which was alarming. This did not deter us from placing our order though and the host was super friendly and helpful. I ordered a chicken and shrimp combo basket with red beans and rice as well as Mac and cheese. The food came out timely and was hot and flavored well. The red beans were awesome. I have to say this place is a hidden gem in the Kansas City area and more of you should give it a try. “Love this place. There are more than one location in Kansas City. It's really hard to describe their cuisine but they're more like a wrap place. I love the Cabo beef and when I found out they had shrimp, even though it's not on the menu order the Cabo shrimp. One item you should always pick up is the potato salad. It has so much garlic everyone around you had better like garlic too. It's kind of expensive for the size but certainly worth it. This restaurant is always at the top of my list of places to eat.”

My only (very small) complaint was the portion size, they give A LOT of rice, but only a small amount of chicken. If they reduced the rice a little bit and increased the amount of meat I think the meal would feel more balanced. I also ordered two fish sambusas which perfect and flaky. “I’ve ordered from here twice now, extremely happy with both deliveries as the products were amazing as well as the staff. I’ve only ordered pizza so far, but I’d order any product expecting great from this company as the pizzas were all terrific. First order three pizzas: Prime Cut (BBQ sauce substitute), Spicy Thai, and Tostada. First, the Prime Cut was incredibly tremendous, just wow. Second, the Spicy Thai convinced me such a pizza could exist and be great, I was doubtful it could be even good when I ordered. If you like Thai and the potential flavors based on the ingredients, order it; it doesn’t disappoint. And third, the Tostada a great version of a “taco” flavored pizza. It comes with fresh quality ingredients to make it excel. Second order two pizzas: First, the Cheeseburger. While it sounds impossible, a pizza with pickles and mustard can be great. For me, I found it reminiscent of a McDonalds cheeseburger I had there 30 years ago, albeit with quality ingredients, it was oddly extremely satisfying and my kids destroyed it. Second, the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Quality pizza that tasted as described; but I still found myself missing the Prime Cut (BBQ version) and the Spicy Thai. The Chicken Cordon Bleu is the pictured pizza. Highly recommended place to order from, due to the extremely high quality flavors I’d strongly recommend ordering two different flavors to cleanse the palate to heighten your enjoyment of this quality establishment.”
