I went there on a Tuesday. I was very disappointed that when I arrived, it was closed. I was the only person there.
Fortunately for me. It wasn't locked and looked like it was ok to walk around and check out the trains. So I did just that.
I arrived at the ticket booth which was closed and started reading the posters and information board. All of a sudden, I see someone peeking through the blinds from the booth.
A nice gentleman opened up the door and asked if he could help me. He informed me that the tran ride was closed that day.
I did get to buy a 2021 train calendar though. Then afterwards I continued to wonder around and took some more pictures. I will post a few. I hope that you enjoy them.
My son LOVES going out to see the trains and riding them. The guys out there are always so sweet to him, I appreciate them showing him all the things about the trains.
We took our 2 year old who is into trains and we all had such a great time! We took the short train ride and also really enjoyed the model train display. I hope they can dedicate more area to the model trains in the future, because a boxcar is a pretty tight space and only one small family can fit in at once.
Highly recommend for any rail enthusiasts or just anyone exploring the Southwest. It’s a hidden gem and unknown to many and very close to Vegas! It’s definitely a very cool museum with lots of cool displays, information and activities including the rail-bike tour which is very fun and 90 minutes!
I was only passing by on my bike so only visited for about 15 minutes. I Love trains when I lived in Hawaii I worked on a steam train for 9 years so it was a must visit for me. This place was clean the people there were nice and if you love trains I would definitely go to this museum it's really cool you can go inside you can pay to take train rides like I said I was just stopping by for the memories and some quick photos but I will be back with my kids.
