One of my favorite hikes when I’m in the Vegas area for work. Good views over Las Vegas and the surrounding desert. Also a nice diversity of plants and animals.
I would recommend coming here any time of the year. We visited over the hot summer but because of the altitude it was 30 degrees cooler than in the Valley. This is worth a trip on its own. With several trails to explore, you can camp here for a week or weekend and enjoy the natural wonder and beauty of the site this place offers.
This is a difficult trail. The trail is actually nice until you pass the Trail Canyon Junction. After that junction, the trail can be slippery with rock in some areas. It is worth it but some of the trail needs volunteers to maintain it.
Soaring cliffs, bristlecone pines, above 10k feet after first 4 miles. Incredible views of Kyle Canyon, and access to mummy mountain, Lee peak, and Charleston Peak. No water on trail.
The hike up is well worth it just by the scenery you get when you reach the summit. Along the way you get beautiful views of the landscape as well without having to climb all the way up. Worth it.
