I never wrote a good/positive review for a service I never had the chance to use, but the kindness and thoughtfulness that Cecil and Diana showed for my mother's situation was very touching. My mother is extremely sick and going through various health issues, which makes life difficult. I initially used another agency that changed prices, cancelled the night before, and continued to display an untrustworthy relationship with my family. When speaking to Cecil and the Nurse Diana, I knew that the kindness and concern they showed and how fast they moved to put things together for my family, deserves a positive review.

From my very first contact with Griswald, I felt the professionalism and efficiency that this agency possessed. Roland and Julianna have been helpful in every situation of health care we needed. The staff follows up, offers suggestions and direction, and have wonderful assistants that are caring and dependable. Our home care helper was a major part of our family. We have used Griswold to care for, first, my father and now my mother, over the past two and a half years. With the exception of a couple of caregivers that Griswold quickly switched out, we have been very pleased with the level of care received and the caregivers provided. Most importantly, if one caregiver is unavailable due to illness or vacation, Griswold will provide a replacement so that there are no gaps in care. For about three years, as his health declined due to Alzheimer’s disease, my father was assisted by aides through Griswold Home Care. The staff at Griswold were all instrumental in making those difficult years as caring and as dignified as we could, and I really only have good things to say about their professionalism, kindness and care. We moved from having daily aides, to 24 hour home-care to finally having a private daily aide while my father was in a nursing home. At each stage, his aides provide compassionate care, helped him remain independent, and gave him much needed social interaction and companionship. The ladies and gentlemen who are employed by Griswold ended up becoming something of an extended family to us during those years.

Griswold management staff checked in with my father and his aides regularly, and with their help we were able to maintain consistent care, even through multiple hospitalizations. When my father’s level of agitation and unease made it difficult for him to stay in one place for long, his aide would take him out on errands including stops at the Griswold office to chat with his friends there. Even as his ability to form new memories faded, his intuitive sense of familiar faces made this daily routine of great importance, and I was always touched by how kind and indulgent it was for the office staff to take the time to converse with my father. His final aide, who looked after my father through the end stage, will remain in my esteem as one of the finest people I have ever known. Her amazing strength, warmth and compassion made the final year bearable and I truly felt that in the absence of being able to have family at his side each day, we had the next best thing.

The decision to bring in aides in the first place was difficult. We worried that my father would not tolerate strangers in the house, that perhaps the aides might not be trustworthy, and that the expense would be too great. I was referred to Griswold at first because they are a relative bargain, and hoped for the best with our other concerns. By the end, I wished we had called them in sooner. Two years after my father's death, I remain grateful for their help and recommend them highly.
