PowerHour is great. I've been going for more than a year, have definitely had my ups and downs but they're always there to catch you when you fall. I have made progress both physically and mentally and am really happy to be a part of this community. If you're looking for a great challenge look no further!

Been going for six weeks now with my wife. We both love the people and the workouts. It’s a fantastic place to get fit, stay fit, or just relax with a solid workout. The coaches help you through everything and are genuinely interested in giving you a great experience. I’d highly recommend to anyone that they go check it out! You’ll love it!

If you’re searching for a CrossFit box in the area, and ESPECIALLY if you’re new, do yourself a favor and check out CrossFit PowerHour. They were my first introduction to CrossFit and I’m thankful for that.

I signed up for a six week “challenge” and participated in what is basically an “on-boarding” course to CrossFit. I was weighed and measured for many metrics (body fat, muscle mass, etc) on the first day and performed my first WOD, and they recorded that performance. After six weeks, they weighed and measured my body metrics and clearly demonstrated the improvements across the board (weight down, body fat down, muscle mass up, etc). We also performed the same WOD as Day 1, and I couldn’t believe how big of an improvement I saw. That was it, I was hooked.

I’ll be honest, I was very intimidated once I joined the regular classes. Olympic lifts? Gymnastics? I sucked at most of them. My performance didn’t stack up well against the top athletes, and most of them were scaled. But Jake and Nikki gave me the attention and guidance I needed to overcome any intimidation and learn proper technique and build strength. Even now, 15 months later, coaches approach me to remind me to “push out my knees” during squats, keep my arms in close during double unders, and maintaining a neutral spine during deadlifts. It means a lot.

And if you’re wondering about the other athletes, well, they rock. I’ve met great people along the way, and they’ve been very helpful and supportive along my journey. Now I’m able to do most WODs as prescribed, and I’m making progress climbing the leader board. It feels good to make progress.

If you’ve wanted to give CrossFit a try, or looking to jump back in, do yourself a favor and check out PowerHour. Hope to see you there!

Nikki and Jake are two great leaders with focus, discipline and a great deal of heart. I often ask myself what gets me up at 5:15AM almost every day to be at the box at 6AM, and I don’t have any one answer. The first is how many sports could I do every morning with my 17-year-old, awesome daughter, Andree, and then go home and talk about with my enthusiastic, 26-year-old son, Blake, who encouragingly introduced me to Crossfit and resides in Maine about the WOD or the Open. The second is how energized and happy I feel after I have completed the class. The third is that physically at 57 years old I feel good about my overall fitness and health. Although I have tried to keep some form of exercise in my life while I was working long hours, I have never experience an overall sense of fitness that I now have from attending PowerHour. It is a powerful, fresh start to most of my days, and yes it is only an hour.

I often tell people that are afraid of Crossfit that I lift the lightest weight in the class, and I am okay with it. Nikki and Jake give personal individual instruction and I always feel safe. I try to explain that it is all around fitness that matters and that I personally feel better when I walk out of class each and every morning. Over the last year, I have had some real obstacles presented to me in my life, which I have never experienced, and I really believe that the crossfit community, exercise, and consistency was the only and best remedy I needed to help me push through those life challenges.

One of the most important parts that keeps me coming back are the people in the box and the community Nikki and Jake create. I really enjoy that it is a sport for all ages. I am not sure that I see anyone else but my family and my work colleagues on a more consistent basis than I do my 6AM crossfit friends. I remember when I first started, I felt a bit out of place. In just a matter of time I had a group of friendly faces greeting me every morning and making me feel part of the community. Today when I see a new person arrive to class, I want to make them feel welcome. On the other hand if I don’t see one of my encouraging teammates, I begin to worry. So whether it was the first time I climbed the rope or in fact today, the first time I jumped a 24 inch box, thanks to Justin’s encouragement, having achieved this with both family and friends makes it special.

When I arrived home from the hospital after the fire, and I had this beautiful bouquet from my crossfit friends, it warmed my heart and made me push harder to recover quickly. So thanks to Nikki and Jake for creating an encouraging and warm culture that extends every day beyond just the hour. I am forever grateful for the strength I have today both physically and mentally from consistent exercise with the encouraging coaching from Nikki, Jake, and all of the other coaches at PowerHour as well as my outstanding teammates.

Working out at CrossFit Power Hour has been the only exercise I have ever been able to stick to consistently. I used to be a gym hopper. I’d do a class here, another class there, start running for a month, then not work out for a while. Since starting CrossFit with Nicki and Jake, I feel the fittest and most confident I’ve felt in my entire life.

More important than feeling fit, I have been lucky to meet so many great people in the CrossFit community that Nicki and Jake created. Nowhere else in the world can you find 18 smiling faces ready to put in work at 6 o’clock in the morning, even in the middle of winter! The friendships extend outside the box, with events, competitions, BBQs, and nights out. It’s definitely a special group.

I’m so happy to call Nicki and Jake not only my coaches but my friends. They have built something so good that has changed countless lives for the better, including my own!
