Dr. Vates came in on a Saturday evening over new years weekend while my son was in the ER for an emergency consultation. He was thorough, kind, and answered all my questions. He spoke to concerned family members on the phone as well. One of the things that really stood out to me with Dr. Vates was his willingness to consult with other specialties to get their opinion. I loved his humility, and his desire to provide my son with the best outcome. He also works with a great group of PA's, specifically Cortney was very patient, knowledgeable, and kind. You could not ask for a better surgeon or team. We were 12 hours from our hometown when this happened, and I joked that we traveled 12 hours to get the best- and its really true, we did travel 12 hours to get the best.
I could not be more thankful to Dr. Vates for being not only thorough and skilled at his specialty, but also kind and understanding. Dr. Vates always took the time and care to explain everything to me regarding my daughter and showed me all lab results and imaging. He never rushed me, never made me feel like I was asking a silly question and was always so sweet to both my girls.
When it was time to consider surgery I had no hesitations because I knew my daughter was in the best hands. Her surgery went well and she received excellent care from Dr. Vates and his staff. I could not be happier, thank you for all you do!
We were referred to Dr. Vates after our newborn son's circumcision was canceled because of a reaction to the numbing agent in the hospital. We were extremely nervous having to attempt to do it again, but Dr. Vates did his research & even consulted another doctor on other possible pain relief options. Other pediatric urologists we had called said they were booked until way out in the future & at that point, would require general anesthia to be used & required our son to be a bit older. We wanted to take care of this ASAP for obvious reasons & putting our baby under general for it was out of the question. Vates told us he would do his best to squeeze us in for the procedure in the short week he had before general anesthesia would be required. He of course came through & we could not be more thankful. It's nice dealing with doctors who truly care about their patients & not just the money aspect. Thank you so much Dr. Vates for your knowledge, expertise & overall care.
His surgical coordinator was also the best as well! She was completely empathetic to my fears when I called her & promised she would find an appointment slot for him to have it done within the time constraints. Thank you again Vates & staff!
Our son was born with a birth defect, hypospadius. Dr. Vates came highly recommended right from the hospital staff, and our pediatrician. He has since done two surgeries on our son to repair this birth defect. I cannot say enough kind things about this man. He is skilled, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and anything else you can think of. Thanks to him our son will grow up completely normal. We are so grateful for Dr. Vates and his staff.
