His simple act of sitting in a chair in his office or next to my husband's bedside, conveyed to us the good doctor was not in a hurry to leave. He was there to answer any questions, explain in laymen's terms what was happening. During one of my husband's hospitalizations, I learned that Dr. Iorio earned the nickname "Midnight Cowboy" because he was apt to show up at any time during the night to observe and check on his patients. I was told by the nurses how Dr. Iorio would often sit next to my husband during the night just to watch him breathe and listen to any sounds.
