“This is an absolute hidden gem in the area. They have open house every October where you can come see and feel Japanese folk culture, art, etc. It's amazing that the family has been doing this for 50 years. Mr. Heineken is very knowledgeable about his collections and anthropology. I definitely learned a lot!”

“I've been passing by signs for this place the last 6 months. Finally made it a point to visit with the family. Five of my kids ages 6 to 20. Just a few miles from where we live and a totally different landscape. Beautiful! We did a 2pm tour with Lisa. She was very knowledgeable and animated. Which made a potential "boring" homeschool "field trip" more interesting for my 6yo. We arrived early so we took the trail at the side of the house to explore a bit of the D&R Canal.”

“For me the experiance was very surreal. The walk by the edge of forest and canal is peaceful. Try canoeing/ kayaking through the canal. The service is not expensive and gives one of a kind experience.”

“My first visit today - what an experience! JP (the museum leader blacksmith - a woman) and Ed were just fabulous with their knowledge and obvious love of the craft and their recounting of the museum's history as a working forge in Somerset County until about 1958. I will join the group supporting this museum for sure. Open Sundays 1-4PM during the "tepid months", Sep-Nov and Apr-June (the museum is as it was, no heat, no A/C, no electricity, a coal forge, even a 16th century anvil!”
