Mount Rascal Park

Address: Hackettstown, NJ 07840, USA

Park

“Nice set of trails totaling just a couple of miles near the old Morris Canal. Some trails that go up Mt Rascal a bit, but nothing too steep. Terrain is mostly soil, some rocks. Could be a bit muddy in spots after rain, and you may need to hop some downed trees. I recommend parking down the road a bit where it widens by Countryside Apartments.”

National Park Service - Delaware River - Hamilton - Campsites #

Address: Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

“I made the mistake of taking my wife through the Water Gap on a weekend. My original planned stopping point of Peters, NJ (Wallpack Bend) was all full. We had to push on down river. All of the spots at Hamilton were full as well except the last one. I was starting to think we would be island camping without a privy...not good. The site we had was not to steep up the embankment and was really nice. My wife enjoyed stopping there.”

Beaver Pond

Address: Appalachian Trail, Newton, NJ 07860, USA

Park

Fountain of Youth Spring

Address: 225 Millbrook Rd, Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“Parking at this spring is difficult as you can't fully pull off the road. I stop for water here if I'm in the area as spring water is better than tap water, hands down. However, I find that the water here isn't always consistent. I have been here after a pop-up thunderstorm and the water has run murky. I'm used to the ice cold water from the Mine Hill Spring which unfortunately has been shut down now for years. Here the water can range from cool to cold, however, it's spring water and I still enjoy it more than the tap.”

Catfish Fire Tower

Address: Appalachian Trail, Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“Very nice hike with an interesting fire watch tower. Hike up to the tower and have a picnic at the base of the tower. You might even run into hikers hiking the Appalachian Trail. We ran into a young woman who started in Georgia and was passing through the area so we shared some of our lunch with her.”

Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco

Address: 11 Sand Pond Rd, Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Campground Park Lodging

“Is it expensive to get in? Heck yeah but the funds go to the Boy Scouts groups and directly back into the camp. It was a very well organized tour of Camp Crystal Lake and memorable for patrons. Beautiful location, they keep this place well maintained. I’m all about any person or organization who works so hard to preserve a piece of the natural land.”

Appalachian Trail

Address: Unnamed Road, Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

“Great hike. Ran into one couple with a dog. They were very friendly. Hike up to the Catfish Fire Tower. Great views on a clear day. Visible to the west is Catfish Pond.”

Rattlesnake Trail

Address: Blairstown, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“Nice side trail to the AT, though quite rocky and somewhat of an ankle-turner. It was dry when I hiked it, but looks as though it could get pretty wet and potentially muddy in sections. There are walkways the probably traverse the wettest locations.”

Appalachian Trail

Park

“Went there last Sunday it was amazing!”

Upper Spur Trail Head

Address: Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“This spur connects the Copper Mine Trail to the Kaiser Trail. Not too long a trail and, since it traverses the ridge, isn't very steep. Nice trail.”

Pahaquarry Copper Mines trail

Address: Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“The mine is closed off because they are protecting the bats. Totally worth it to stand in front of the mine though, natural air conditioning. Felt amazing. The only thing that made me sad is whoever threw trash into the mine. I don't get why people disrespect nature like that.”

Kaiser Trail Head

“Kaiser and coppermine. About 7 miles. Good hike.”

“Good views, pretty flat and easy hike!”

Douglas Parking Lot Trailhead

Address: 134 Old Mine Rd, Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Park

“Large parking area that services both the Douglas Trail and Garvey Springs Trail. Large it may be, but it still fills up during the height of the season and on weekends. Both trails terminate at the Appalachian Trail on the top of the ridge after gaining approximately 1000 feet. The Douglas is the easier of the 2 trails, Garvey Springs is steeper, more rocky, and far narrower.”

Wild Baby Rescue Center Inc

Address: 14 Grouse Mountain Rd, Blairstown, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“Thank you for taking the baby squirrel we found right away!! It didn't take me long to realize Hope and her staff love what they do! Hope and her staff were very friendly! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was so heartbroken when the mother did not come back for her baby. ”

White Lake Parking Lot

Address: Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“Decent size parking area with bathroom facilities (well, a port-a-john). Nice access to both the boat launching area and the trails that circumnavigate the lake. Lake is very small, but the shoreline is designed to remain pristine. Lots of birds to scope out.”

Park Office

Address: Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Park

“Went camping here last week. It was such a great experience, this was my first time camping. The campgrounds were well kept and were very large. While here there was a really bad storm and the power lines came down so we had no water or lights in the outhouse for a few hours and the one road that is used to get it was out of service because of this as well due to no traffic light. But they quickly fixed all the problems and everything was back up and running. Really great area very serine and relaxing!”

Boat Access- Worthington State Park

Address: Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Douglas Trail

Address: Campground Rd, Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Park

“This trail heads up to meet with the AT crossing the Rock Cores trail along the way. The parking area is shared with the Garvey Springs trail which also crosses Rock Cores so there are plenty of options for hiking variations. The Douglas passes by the AT camping area just prior to reaching the AT. From the AT intersection, it is not too far to Sunfish Pond and well worth the effort.”

White Lake Natural Resource Area

Address: Stillwater Rd, Hardwick Township, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“We had a wonderful hike at White Lake. A 3-mile hike there seems pretty long, btw. The terrain is up and down; sometimes uneven. But it is just beautiful, in all seasons! The history is very interesting if you want to Google it. There are a few interpretive signs, but there could be more. There are some very interesting remains of buildings out along the hikes. The property has been well restored in most areas with native grasses and flowers, so you should see a good variety of native butterflies and birds in season. The bottom of the lake actually is quite white, due to the remains of ancient shellfish after the glaciers came through. The history of limestone in the area is fascinating. Definitely worth a visit. Also a wonderful place for serene kayaking.”

garvey springs trail

Address: 127 Old Mine Rd, Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Park

Blue Blaze Trail (Blue Dot)

Address: Blue Dot, Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

“Nice trail. I would suggest taking g this on the way back from the summit. Or if you don't want to climb the steep rock scrambles of red dot you can take this one to the top. There are nice views of waterfalls and streams on this trail.”

Lakota Wolf Preserve

Address: 89 Mt Pleasant Rd, Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Park

“This tour was well worth it. The wolves were beautiful. The preserve is very well maintained and the animals all look happy. They also house foxes, Bobcats and a lynx! Educational tour great for families with young ones. I'm so happy we came!”

Worthington State Forest

Address: Old Mine Rd, Columbia, NJ 07832, USA

Park

“Beautiful scenery. Good amenities, access to many good trails. Downside is the potholes are like craters in the earth and gave my vehicle a flat tire even though was only going slow. If the roads are going to be paved they should be maintained although I did see some people taking measurements which is good. Just never should get that bad. Very nice beautiful areas, good trails”

Sycamore Park

Address: 26 Lambert Rd, Blairstown, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“The park borders a trout stocked river and is a great spot for fishing. Highly recommend giving this spot a try with some waders and walk downstream. Very easy to walk it as there are very few large rocks and boulders to trip on or get snagged in. Good luck!”

Footbridge Park

Address: Paulinskill Valley Trail, Blairstown, NJ 07825, USA

Park

“Google asked me to answer questions. One was if there is a public restroom. I answered no. There is a portable toilet during warm months. No permanent restroom”
