“There are members of the shul that are very upset that their davening and learning is disturbed by events in the simchah hall in the basement. This is a problem by every hall that is in a shul. But most shuls need it for the money. However the members of this shul claim that they do not need the money. But for some reason the gabbai continues to rent out the hall. So I do not recommend using this hall for your simchah. It is bittul torah and teffilah, and some of your guests will probably unfortunately be made to feel unwanted. If you do choose to use this hall for your simchah, or if you are invited to a simchah in this hall, then there are probably things to keep in mind. There is the volume of the music. And only the basement is rented out. So you should probably try to stay in the basement.”

“I usually do not write reviews for shuls, but I decided to try something different. This orthodox shul is in the Westgate area of the Lakewood community. It is not limited to just Westgate, but the shul attracts a big crowd of people. They have the space to accommodate many people throughout the day. The have shachris minyanim until 9 am. They have mariv minyanim upstairs every twenty minutes until 12 am. There are plenty of mincha minyanim, but make sure to check a schedule first. This shul is not a minyan factory, but they have many daily (and shabbos) minyanim. The parking situation is not the greatest, but you can usually find a spot in the back(unless there is a simcha going on). The shul is beautiful and well maintained. They have a gorgeous otzar full of many seforim. The simcha hall is spacious and comfortable. This shul is a great place to daven and learn.”

“They were very accommodating and made me feel at home the Rabbi and his family ran the service and one of his younger sons was excellent in the way he was leading the service for everybody ,pleasant voice and easy to follow, plus if you need help there are people who are willing to go out of their way to help you ,prayer books are in English and Hebrew so you do not have to worry G-D is listening to you in any language that you pray. After the services we had a small get together for a lovely kiddush, the rabbi said he is looking forward to the day when the coronavirus would be a memory behind us and we could go forward and having hot Kiddush again. The time that this Saturday morning shabbos prayer services started was also at a very reasonable time to give people a chance to sleep a little later and to walk to the temple. The Maplewood Jewish center is in a brand new beautiful building with all modern accommodations. Speaking for myself the Rabbi and the other congregants we look forward in having you join us for our Sabbath service or for any other services or holidays coming up.”

“The moment I stepped inside, I knew I was "home." Rabbi knowledgeable and welcoming. Both student cantors I've experienced = excellent. Wide range of social and learning opportunities in an atmosphere of traditional Jewish culture (Conservative/Masorti). Congregation is welcoming and we are a mixed bag of Egalitarian and Moreshet (traditional) values -- with services to suit both tastes. We're "haimish!" Come visit soon . . . and stay!”
