With local repair shops eager to charge you $100 just to look at your car, it's nice to find someone who offers free diagnostics and reasonable rates. I had an oil leak and was given a business card for Izzy Automotive. The repair shop was in an out-of-the-way area on the western mesa of Belen, a part of Belen I had no idea even existed. I left my car with Izzy, and he drove me back home to Rio Communities. He told me he would call me by about 10:00 AM the next morning to tell me what was wrong with my car. He called probably an hour or two later with the answer, though, unfortunately, I missed his call. I spoke with him the next morning and the cost to repair my oil leak was very reasonable. I was going to ask him about a grinding noise that my car was making, but he beat me to it. While driving my car, he discovered that the brakes were almost worn out. He told me that all the work would be done by about 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM, but he called me just after 1:00 PM and told me that the car was ready. He picked me up again at my house about a half hour later, and while we were driving back to his shop, I asked him about my car running hot and the temperature on the thermostat often getting near the danger zone. When we got to his shop, he checked it out. He bled the air out of my radiator, added antifreeze, and blew the dust out of my radiator grill. He worked on my car for probably close to an hour with no additional charge. Izzy is knowledgeable, experienced, helpful, and pleasant. He works out of his own garage on his own property so his overhead is low, which means he can pass the saving on to his customers. And he's fast! Izzy Automotive is a new, local business that deserves a chance. I highly recommend Izzy.
