Once you walk in through those gates you forget that you’re still in New York. This place is so calm and beautiful. I like to go during the spring, the end of summer and mid fall to see the changes in the plants and flowers and just to see how beautiful nature is. I just sit on the grass and appreciate what we miss out on living in the city.
A magical union of horticulture are and science. Such a gorgeous place to unwind and resonate with nature. The cafe is divine!
I love this place. It's just outside Manhattan and still in NYC limits, yet feels like your much further north along the Hudson valley. Spend a half day checking out the greenhouse, gardens and historic house. Or bring a sketchbook and spend the day. There's a
This garden is so beautiful. The landscapers, designers and gardeners did and do such a great job maintaining it all. It's picturesque and peaceful. I can sit there looking out to the river for ages. There are some lovely trails. Lots of walking if you're that way inclined. Or sit on one of the many chairs or benches around the grounds.
Staff are very nice. The shuttle is very useful and runs every half hour. You can get it from the subway, the last stop on the 1.
Little slice of paradise.
Wave Hill is a stunningly beautiful garden that is worth the day trip outside the city to visit. Beautifully-manicured lawns that overlook the Hudson River give way to a set of trails that wander through wooded areas. The highlight of Wave Hill is a wonderfully-curated gallery that offers seasonally rotated exhibits of nature-inspired art from both established and emerging artists. They also offer a small but quality selection of food to be enjoyed on the veranda of the main house. Absolutely worth visiting on a nice day.

Home at times to the Roosevelts and British ambassadors, the Wave Hill home and gardens are an oasis away from the city. It's shocking walking up to the house through Riverdale.
