“Nice neighborhood pub to goto for St. Patrick's Day. Has a traditional Irish pub feel but also has a huge wide screen TV that they show sports on. Everyone was friendly and chatted it up with one of their regulars(more than enough reason to come back). The kitchen was open later this time and I ordered the Sheperd's Pie which was great. It came out right out of the oven, hence why I included a short video so you can see for yourself.”

AFRIDI Halal Food Cart

Address: 254-65 Nassau Blvd, Queens, NY 11362, USA

“Heard and read numerous rave reviews about this low key Halal cart and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. Massive portion of chicken with steamy fluffy rice and just the right amount of white sauce had me drooling from first to last bite. My only wish was that I found out earlier. No doubt one of the best in Queens, NY. $8 for Chicken platter with can of soda. A true bargain this day and age.”

“Had a hot, crispy and fresh chicken meal inside the restaurant. Not overly crowded but got that way when I left. The three piece meal was very crispy with a delicious side of mash potatoes and gravy. Washed it down with a root beer. My only gripe was the thigh was rather small compared to what I have ordered from them in the past.”

Mars Kitchen & Bar Inc

Address: 10708 Rockaway Blvd, Queens, NY 11417, USA

Restaurant

“I stopped in here one Monday evening to check them out because they were newly opened. The walls are plastered with photos, maps, and other images that reflect Guyana and Guyanese culture at large. The little lanterns over the seating areas are really cute. The server was very friendly and answered any questions that I had. I wasn’t sure if they were doing dine-in service so I asked if I could sit and wait before leaving. She told me that was absolutely fine and offered me a complimentary caramel. I bought a mixed Chinese fried rice that was absolutely delicious. It had a smidge too much of sesame oil but otherwise it was great. I normally bake sponge cake but this restaurant had one of the best sponge cakes that I’ve ever eaten. It was so moist and flavorful! They have a lot of menu items that you typically wouldn’t find at other Guyanese restaurants but you certainly would find in a Guyanese home. The prices were also reasonable! I will definitely return here again if I’m ever in the area.”

“Cool ambiance, food was good. Pastel de choclo was off. The consistency wasn’t there. Like if they kept the corn too long in the for processor. It was pasty… needed more texture. More con chunks you know? The palta was great and the bread excellent. But that pastel needs some work tho.”

“A unique halal spot with a Mexican vibe. It's one of the few places where you can get halal burritos etc. Staff here were prompt and quick and gave great recommendations. What I like best is the variety of sauces that you can choose on top of your standard white and hot sauce. I got the standard chicken over rice platter with curly fries and Chipotle sauce on the side which came out amazing! Overall this is a must try for anyone that is likes halal and Mexican.”
