F.A. Guernsey's Co. NY Gueney's Schoharie Nurseries

This is a true nursery, unlike the pseudo garden centers at the big box stores, home improvement stores, and supermarkets. Don't get me wrong, the chains have their place. They work for lots of people. But Guernsey's is for you if you want a broad selection of plant material in a variety of sizes, most of it grown locally. "Grown locally" is important. Those plants are acclimated - they are grown here and are used to our climate. A rhododendron grown in the Carolinas is lush and full, but has never seen our windy, 0-degree January days. Plant survival is never certain, but your chances are better with Northern-grown material. Also, Guernsey's hasn't lasted 130 years by bringing in plants, half-neglecting them, then marking them down. You will still find decent specimens after the Spring rush. Selection is better then most places. Prices are competitive. Service is good. Bottom line, this is worth the drive when the limited selection of run-of-the-mill trees, shrubs, and perennials at the box stores won't do. For me, that is almost always...

Guernsey's Schoharie Nurseries did some landscaping for my husband and I. They did great work, and finished the project on time as well! Their response time was fantastic, and the staff was very helpful. I will definitely return to them in the future!

Last year, we had an island last summer and the design of the flowers were really great. Their organization was awesome, and they kept everything very neat! The thing I enjoyed most about Guemsey Inc. is their quick and efficient service.
