“This is a true nursery, unlike the pseudo garden centers at the big box stores, home improvement stores, and supermarkets. Don't get me wrong, the chains have their place. They work for lots of people. But Guernsey's is for you if you want a broad selection of plant material in a variety of sizes, most of it grown locally. "Grown locally" is important. Those plants are acclimated - they are grown here and are used to our climate. A rhododendron grown in the Carolinas is lush and full, but has never seen our windy, 0-degree January days. Plant survival is never certain, but your chances are better with Northern-grown material. Also, Guernsey's hasn't lasted 130 years by bringing in plants, half-neglecting them, then marking them down. You will still find decent specimens after the Spring rush. Selection is better then most places. Prices are competitive. Service is good. Bottom line, this is worth the drive when the limited selection of run-of-the-mill trees, shrubs, and perennials at the box stores won't do. For me, that is almost always...”

“My girlfriend and I had been dealing with our dog’s anxiety since we had adopted him. He had serious anxiety and leash aggression. He would tear apart kennels and we would avoid walking him in public, since it was too much to handle. We had hired a trainer previously, but her methods were, for lack of a better term, stupid an ineffectual. About a year later we came to Kate. Kate clearly loves working with her animals and was very patient with our dog (and us) during our training. Her methods are direct and effective. She helped give us the tools to work with our animal and we can now all go for stress free walks. Highly recommend.”

“**under new ownership 2023** Can’t thank Matt enough for all he did for me when I told him my pool pump didn’t kick out enough power to circulate and vacuum. Not only did he inspect it, but he went through the trouble of connecting it to his own pool he has on site. He went above and beyond to help me diagnose the problem. I am very happy with the service he provided and highly recommend. I will definitely be back. Spread the word- under new ownership and highly improved. Thank you for all your help!”

“We have not purchased or bred with Cripple creek dogs but I have to say these are the most down to earth, friendly people. The shepherds look happy and healthy and are such nice dogs! So loveable! If I had found them sooner I definitely would have purchased a puppy from them but I do intend to breed my female with their amazing shepherds!”

“My wife and I purchased and reconstructed a 19th century brownstone in downtown Albany two years ago. The building had been abandoned for years and much of the amazing woodwork that was once a shining symbol of the times had either rotted, warped, or was impossible to restore. We had contacted several specialist and all the quotes excepts Dennis' were unreasonable. But it wasn't just the quote that attracted us to work with Dennis. He explained the process he would use in layman's terms and answered all of our questions. We decided to work with him to restore our front doors. After taking the doors, Dennis called us to meet with him and explain they were beyond repair, the doors had rotted to the point where he couldn't restore them. Dennis is such a stand up guy that he brought the doors with him and showed us before coming up with a solution. Denis customized a replicate of our original doors and incorporated salvageable pieces into the new doors. After a few weeks, he called us again and presented the most amazing custom doors we could imagine. He was able to keep the brass numbers and door handles, replicate the molding, and polish the brass. I highly recommend working with him, because I surely will soon.”

“Jeff hatlee at off the beaten path is the best around, his bait always is top notch his prices are always excellent, always has a very large stick of bait and tons of fishing tackle , he didn't have the size auger blades I needed at his shop so he was on a bait delivery and got me a set of blades and had them for me when I came back in. I've had his bait survive a week on my porch and still healthy when I went back out , can't ask for a better bait and tackle shop and I won't get my bait anywhere else!”

“We purchased two turkeys from King Creek Farms. They were carefully packaged and double bagged with ice. So very thoughtful! Aisha was so pleasant to speak with. I enjoyed hearing their journey on how they started a farm. Eating meat can be ethical when the animals are taken care of and fed well. You can see the amount of care and effort they put into their farm. We look forward to purchasing more from King Creek Farms Thank you so much!!!”

“A nice (free) side trip during the off season. Took my 4yo and 10yo here, and the staff was very kind and informative. They gave us pamphlets, coloring books, crayons, and a tote. She spent lots of time answering questions and interacting with the kids. Many of the exhibits were not functioning unfortunately, and the Lansing Manor house is also currently closed for the season. They gave us a map to go up to the top reservoir for a scenic view, however we got up there and the gate was closed with no more signage on where to go. From what I could see the upper reservoir was snow covered. Had to turn around and go back down. I'm sure it's beautiful in the summer time.”
