“I had the HONOR of visiting the Y again yesterday with the Bay Shore Lions. I say Honor because being a Bay Shore resident and living right around the corner- I felt I knew all about the programs the Y had to offer. Boy was I wrong!!! I learned that the Y offers a program for Teenagers on Saturday nights that averages 240 Teens a night! These teens can attend there free of charge and take classes to keep them off the street for free. They offer them classes to become Summer Camp counselors. They have a Swimming Program called the Eye Insight Program which is for those losing their sight or blind. They have senior exercise classes- which becomes a daily routine to seniors to not only make them healthier- but gives them purpose to get up every day! Their Summer Camp Scholarship Program allows over 200 kids from low income families to have a place to go all day while their parents can go to work.... The list of community driven programs to serve the less fortunate is awe inspiring. This is not just a local gym- it is a giving organization that finds a need in the community and fills it! Kudos to you Bay Shore Y- I couldn't be prouder to have you as a resource to our community!”
