My daughter is 16 and has been dancing with Barefoot since she was 2 years old. It has been a life-changing experience for her. Barefoot Dance is my dream dance school. - the dance school I wish I had as a child. The emphasis at Barefoot is on authentic movement with natural alignment of the body. There is no forcing the body into unnatural positions that will cause future damage. The emphasis is on the creative process, not the finished product. At the end of year dance concert the costumes are simple and the emphasis is on the dancing, not the costumes. The director, Jessie Levey did her Master's thesis on the over-sexualization of girls in dance, and this is not something that happens at Barefoot. I appreciate that all gender identities and body types are welcome at Barefoot. I cannot recommend this dance school highly enough for your dancer.
