Utica Zoo

Address: 1 Utica Zoo Way, Utica, NY 13501, USA

Zoo

“It seemed like many of the things we use to have are gone. There are a few nice new buildings. There is no more feeding the goats. I feel like we lost a lot since I was last there. But, we had fun!”

The Wild Animal Park

Address: 7621 Lakeport Rd, Chittenango, NY 13037, USA

Zoo

“The Wild is a great place to see a large variety of animals as well as feed some. They have all the large Cats and two types of Bears. Giraffes and penguins, too. You can pay more for one on one experiences with some animals, not the dangerous ones. There are places to eat, pan for gems or fossils, feed Giraffes, or close yourself in a house full of colorful little hungry parakeets with a seed stick (my personal nightmare) and three bounce houses (decent sized under a roof with an arcade). The Wild has improved and grown itself over the years into a wonderful place to bring family friends and children for a few hours or all day and if you have children should be on your summer to do list.”

Washington County Grasslands

Address: 390 Black House Rd, Fort Edward, NY 12828, USA

“Small, quite area among numerous small farms that dot the landscape. I found two Northern Harriers several Bluebirds and three Kestrels during my visit on April 1st.”

Hidden Valley Animal Adventure

Address: 2887 Royce Rd, Varysburg, NY 14167, USA

Zoo Restaurant

“Loved it... Had a fantastic day. I suggest getting the combination entry it's only a few dollars more and gives you; a trolley ride through the safari, access to the petting zoo, and access to more of the animal's (ones that bite or parents are highly protective of their babies section and or can harm people, like kangaroos.) Great for all animal lovers. Oh and cups of feed are $2 to give the animals to help bring them up to you. For those of you who's funds are tight, I been there. This is a must know place. Geese, ducks, swans, and wildlife hang out around a pond full of koi, island pavilion with a lovely wood bridge over the water to it, tables,... And many other things to find to do at no cost. I could see me making the drive just to sit in the chairs by the pond. Must see place... 💯”

Zoo New York

Address: 1 Thompson Park, Watertown, NY 13601, USA

Zoo

“Definitely a small zoo, but still an interesting place to see some native animals up close. I was glad to see that there wasn't anything too exotic, from an animal welfare standpoint, especially considering the harsh winters in this area. Nice place to walk around with my 6 yr old and fun to read about the animals, especially the stories of how they came to the zoo, like Pandora's comical story we laughed about! We also recently saw a wild barred owl and we love to go to Tug Hill in the evenings and call to them. We hear them so often that it was cool to see one much closer up, given all we have learned of them. Only thing I think definitely needs attention is the tanks inside! They were full of algae and a couple dead fish (pictured). The turtle was a kind I've never seen or heard of before, so it was cool to see that and learn how common they actually are. But someone really needs to be keeping up with tank maintenance!”

Bailiwick Animal Park and Riding Stables

Address: 118 Castle Rd, Catskill, NY 12414, USA

“The staff are super friendly and accommodating. The animals are well taken care of and healthy. The fact that kids have direct interaction with some of the farm animals it’s extraordinary. The donkeys are too cute. Highly recommended for toddlers or even older kids.”

Trevor Zoo at Millbrook School

Address: 282 Millbrook School Rd, Millbrook, NY 12545, USA

Zoo

“Very cute place! The only downside was many of the animals weren’t there- inside or outside. We did see TONS of turkey vultures, lemurs, snakes, turtles, emus, a rabbit, fish, cranes, marmosets, and turkeys. There were no river otters or deer and many of the cages were empty so I’m not sure what would be in them. My son was 3 so his admission was free and it was $6 I believe for an adult ticket which was an extremely affordable price. The land and walkways were beautiful. If there weren’t so many empty cages, I would have given 5 stars. Woman at admission desk was very kind and informative!”

Queens Zoo

Address: 53-51 111th St, Queens, NY 11368, USA

Zoo

“This is a very cute little zoo. Emphasis on little but for the price, it’s worth it. If you’re not going with children or anyone who walks slower, you’ll probably get through both sides of the zoo in less than 2 hours. You have to order your tickets in advance online. The petting zoo is so cute! The plus to this zoo is that because it’s smaller, less people were there for a Saturday over the summer so you got a nice view of all the animals. The downside was they don’t have a large variety of animals and about some of the animals weren’t in their section like the Bear.”

Animal Adventure Park

Address: 85 Martin Hill Rd, Harpursville, NY 13787, USA

Zoo

“Loved it. The wait in line was short when we arrived. We purchased the feeding buckets with lettuce, carrots and pellets to feed the animals. The whole atmosphere was totally relaxed. It was spacious and clean. The gift shop was amazing with plenty of affordable items to choose from I picked up my son a tee shirt, stuffed giraffe and rhinoceros. I recommended this place to anyone with children or animal lovers.”

“Unique place that let's you see bug type wildlife up close. Most specimens are in separate 3-ish foot enclosures that let you get just the right view. They change some of them (smaller enclosures) regularly, so it is worth coming back every other month or so. Also have a small ocean exhibit to highlight how some bugs are related to ocean life. You get to see coral, horseshoe crabs, starfish, and other critters. And then there's the "butterfly room". A walk-through room with HUNDREDS of butterflies. All different species, sizes, and colors. This place is great for people and kids that aren't freaked out by bugs. I HATE spiders, and I was even able to hold Rosie (smaller desert tarantula). Definitely worth the visit at least once, and even regularly for local folks.”

Dawn Animal Agency

Address: 142 E 37th St 2nd floor, New York, NY 10016, USA

“These animals are so well cared for and loved - It's evident in the animals behavior. If they can't live in the wild, as we consume the land, this is a great home for the orphans who have no place to go.”

Jungle World

Address: The Bronx, NY 10460, USA

Staten Island Zoo

Address: 614 Broadway, Staten Island, NY 10310, USA

Zoo

“Considering that the zoo is only eight acres, I was quite pleasantly surprised. The animals seemed well taken care of, and seemed to have lots of toys for enrichment. The zoo had lots of information regarding conservation, including facts on their status and what you as an individual can do to help. When you visit, please keep in mind that this zoo is very small so don’t be disappointed that they don’t have any elephants or giraffes. That being said, there are many interesting animals to see and learn about :)”

“We booked a party for my son's birthday at CSTL. We arrived about 20 minutes before the scheduled party, the two people assigned to our party were setting up and welcomed us. They put out a coloring activity for the kids as we waited for everyone to arrive. We booked three activities - 1) Slime 2) Dinosaur Dig 3) Animal show. 1) the party attendants were great with the slime activity. Parents had to help because the attendants can only do so much with 10+ kids. 2) the dig was my least favorite activity, but kids who love to get dirty will love it. Tons of mosquitoes in that area, but such is nature. The attendant could have been a little more hands on in helping the kids with this activity. 3) the animal show (1 insect, 4 animals) was simple and great. Engaged all the kids. Gave great information about the animals. Pizza was after activity one and cake followed the last activity. Two bathrooms right next to the party room made cleaning hands very easy. The attendants were great. Everything flowed pretty well in the designated timeframe.”
