A nice place to stroll. There are areas with tree cover and open areas. Pretty and fairly quiet.
Nice little park off of 70 right on the Yadkin river. Beautiful scenery! Also has historic information available on signs. Went to the park one day for breakfast with my brother and we ate biscuits and watched the trains go by across the way. There is access from the upper park down to the boat ramp area right on the river. The old bridge is now just for pedestrians and bicycles. If you walk across the bridge you can say you walked all the way from Davidson County to Rowan County!
I like going there on Saturday mornings and sitting on the bridge and just chilling. Very nice area
York Hill Access Area is now a part of the new Yadkin River Park which now falls under the management of the Davidson County Parks and Recreation Center. An Excellent place to launch boats or kayaks. Although most think of this area as the river, it is actually the upper part of High Rock Lake. The river boundaries actually end around Boone's cave and the lake impoundment begins there. This you don't see a lot of movement in the water(it's actually lake)..Still the area is scenic and historic.....this was the main reason for the county taking over the Wilcox Bridge. This area was a major gateway for American Indians, Nathaniel Greene, General Cornwallis and one of the last Civil War Battles in our state(which really flipped the script, Southerns from the mountains of North Carolina actually fighting for the North and Northerners actually defending the South)
