Old school place with excellent service. Stopped to get lunch to go as I was driving down I-85. Easy access on and off, food was prepared quickly and order was correct. Got the chopped pork sandwich and hush puppies. Very good.
I'm not a fan of a service charge for credit cards, especially since I didn't see it posted on the menu but just before I went to pay. This was my second visit here and I would visit again.
This place came up as the best place to get BBQ in the Lexington area so had to check it out. In my opinion it was just regular BBQ don’t know what made it so special I guess cause they were on diner drives and dives. I will say the red coleslaw was pretty good it was sweet with a little heat I am not a big fan of coleslaw but would come back to eat theirs again. They where a little busy when we arrived but we got seated within 20 min or so which was not bad considering we where at the best BBQ place. The pink lemonade is pretty awesome also.
Oh my goodness, where do I even start? Drove all the way up from Atlanta to try this place, after hearing about it for so many years, from friends, family members, customers, etc. I've even seen them on TV several times, Guy Fieri and "Diners, Drive In's and Dives", the Travel Channel, the Food Network, probably more than that! The food was delicious, the service, more than amazing, the atmosphere, the ambience all contributed to a wonderful meal and a fabulous visit. The owner even came out to bless me with a side of pork right off the grill, I believe. He said he noticed I liked the crispy edges, and that he had just cut these off. They were possibly one of the best items I have ever eaten. Smoky, juicy, tender yet crisp on the edges, everything BBQ should be and then some. I ordered the coarse chopped plate, with red slaw and fries plus a side of beans, because, well, I just love good baked beans, and these were delicious! The hush puppies with crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, just the right seasoning, a perfect complement to the pork. I had never had red slaw before, but the helpful waitress gal was very encouraging, and I'm glad I tried it. All of the service personnel were hopping, keeping everyone happy, and they seemed to know everyone's name. I wish I lived closer. Hey, Lexington might be a good place to retire to one day... Doing all I can to support our local businesses as we get used to this new normal. Please support them, and be generous to your servers, they suffered more than most over the last few years. We have been trying all kinds of BBQ to find true Carolina BBQ, this place is it! It was PACKED when we arrived, immediately seated, no wait. Server was awesome! She was pleasant and veey helpful. This is the place you ride 2 hours to eat at, it's that good, and that's exactly what we did!!!
I hardly ever eat BBQ but my son's do. I have to say this was So good off the charts. Not greasy or fatty and lean. The slaw was perfect tons of vinegar. Took 8 BBQ sandwiches for some ballplayers loved it. Oops the picture of the church accidentally and won't allow me to delete. Pay no mind to it!
