Just to start, anything above a 2 star is a place I'd visit. This is a nice little spot, with easy access to the river down a fairly steep inclined path. Only 2 trails, but it has 2 picnic tables with a shelter over them, which was rather unexpected for such a small place. There is a landing down at the river, and plenty of mountain Laurel that I hear is quite beautiful to see around Mother's Day. I only give it 4 stars because there's not much to do, but I'd definitely recommend visiting.

This is a small hidden gem off of highway 15. We have been coming to it since it opened opened and it is a good place to to hike down to the Tar river if you want to put in a Canoe or a kayak. Bring a fishing Pole and you can also follow the human made trails along the edge of the riveach of the river. It's a pretty spot. There is a covered place to picnic and a portajohn. Be aware that the loop trails are short. But now they are hard to find! Sadly it is being neglected a bit.. I reinstalled a few of the downed fence rails when we stopped there recently-a simple task but a few tools would have helped secure them better. There are a few seriously deep potholes heading into the area now that shows no one has graded the road in a long time. The display board that you see at all these stops with a map behind it is cracked and damaged and missing the map. One of the trails in the loop has a huge tree fallen on it. ( as in too big to go under or over!) Come on Granville County, It would be a one day event with enough volunteers for a little TLC to bring it back!
