Been here many times, but never get tired of going. Love seeing the history. Today we went for the fall festival. Beautiful day and had a great time seeing the exhibits.
Tour guide was very informative and you could tell she enjoyed teaching the history of the place. Enjoyed the aspect of a driving tour as it makes things more accessible. Take the trip over to Bennett Place after.
I took my son to experience the Heavy Thunder Summer Artillery program. The reenactment was wonderful. The re-enactors were very knowledgeable, kind and patient with all my questions.
Nice little museum that has great animated map of battle inside. Driving tour just ok. Most of battlefield not preserved but used as fields for crops now, though there are a few trenches.
Oh no... they close at 5 and I arrived @ 5:30 🙄. Since I still have a couple hours to drive to get to my destination, I drove around for a little bit and located Stop 1 Confederate High Tide. The Battlefield is very clean and spacious. It has informative historic markers and signs. If you have time, I highly recommend doing the entire driving tour.
