Ayr Mount

Probably the most peaceful walk in the Hillsborough area. Poets Walk takes you along the Eno River, through beautiful forests and Meadows, and by the original Ayr Mont house. (Currently tours of the house are not available due to the pandemic)

Short but beautiful 1 mile hike taking in fields, a pond, the Eno River, a historic roadbed, the ruins of a historic tavern, and the restored federal mansion with its family cemetery! Dogs on leashes allowed. Tours of the mansion by appointment.

Even in a light drizzle, our walk along the mile-long loop was enjoyable. Interesting abandoned native american trading trailway on the northern edge of the property.

This is a beautiful, serene, natural place to get away from the hectic demands of life for a little while. The paths are very well maintained, and the river and pond are very tranquil. Check it out today!
