This place was gorgeous! I got caught in the rain Half way through the trail and I really enjoyed it! Greg at the visitor center was so nice he helped
me pick out a trail, and made sure I didn’t get lost! I had a really good experience!
Edit/ I did two trails here this week, one about 3 miles and the second about six miles 💖 this park was so beautiful! I even saw a deer so so close to me!
Very happy with our family trip here. Lots of trails and camping grounds are very well kept. Bathhouse even had hot water. There was a constant background noise from the planes taking off from the airport. Really just noticed them at the camp. Will definitely keep coming back for more experiences.
I love living this close to a great State Park.
Great walking trails, clean facilities, and fun places to explore make this SUPER convenient State Park a must visit. Acres land sandwiched between Raleigh & Cary make access to the park easy.
Bike, hike, fish, paddle board or kayak all around this gem in the 💚 of the city.
PLEASE NOTE: Overnight camping requires a reservation so go the parks website to schedule. Not all campsiteSs have drive up options, meaning you have to park then walk to site. Check availability when scheduling your camping trip.
This is an absolutely wonderful Park with all sorts of hiking and biking trails. And considering how often heavy rains sometime damage some of these paths, the Park does a good job at keeping these trails maintained. You're also a couple of places to stop, refill your water bottle and respond to the call of nature. A great place for people who love the outdoors of all ages.
I love the Umstead and I have hiked pretty much all of the trails. I love the Company Mills trail the most due to its proximity to my home and there is a stream where I can sit down for a while watching the water flow by. I could just take my lunch there and spend couple of hours in the woods. The second best is Sycamore trail as it varies in height and I use it when I am preparing for longer hikes, there is a secret off the road path to sit next to the dam where I can sit and each my snack or lunch. Also l the trail hugs the stream for good portion of the hike.
