“When I first saw Dr. Shearer it was for him to meet me and see if I would be a good fit for his practice. I was nervous because I was at the point that I couldn’t continue like I have been. He accepted me in with knowing my medical mystery. I was very grateful! I’ve been with him for over a year and throughout that time, I learned that not only he helped me, but I needed to start doing things for me too. I listened to him as he did with me, and he saved my life! My thyroid levels were so high he found the correct medications that helped me get them down! “I have dealt with “treatment resistant” depression for 43 years and have lots of difficulties with side effects of medications. My previous psychiatrist prescribed a medication that worked long enough for me to become physically “addicted” to it…. Then caused horrible side effects…….then caused severe anxiety and depression. when I cried and begged for help, that Psychiatrst referred me to a neurologist and fired me from his practice. I can’t explain how desperate I was for help. The neurology was able to start another medication to ease the side effects and to help me begin the painful process of weaning the original medication.
