Lovely zoo in the heart of New York. It's certainly not the largest zoo- as a matter of fact, it's quite small. But in my opinion that's a positive. It's possible to hit every animal location during a single day trip, and you don't really get tired of walking during the trip. There are still quite a few different areas to see. It is important to note that this is mainly just a zoo, not a zoo with an aquarium like some other places, so there aren't many sea animal exhibits. Despite going on a Friday afternoon during the summer, the zoo was not very packed and my partner and I navigated the whole zoo fairly easily. The best part is after your trip, you have easy access to the rest of Central park and Manhattan, so your day trip can go on after the zoo. Overall, I definitely think this is a great zoo to visit. If you come in expecting too grand of a zoo you might leave a little disappointed. But if you know ahead of time that it's not a huge zoo then it will definitely be a great trip
The best place to visit during winter(around Thanksgiving) it was the perfect place to visit to see animals and just go take in the breathtaking view with the sun, and beautiful buildings on one side. Best of all got to experience the polar express in 4d, man they nailed the smell of hot chocolate, must try it out. Would never regret visiting the zoo or central park
Very cool place. Loved that it was in the middle of central park so it's accessable. Got to see a lot of cool animals, and the reptile and bird enclosures were awesome. All the enclosures were well thought out and seemed big enough for the species inside. Sometimes slippery especially in the bird enclosure as its very humid. A few exhibits were under maintenance so there were some parts we missed. Lovely staff, the birds are surprisingly friendly, and the children's zoo was pretty good too. Decent prices.
I can see why the Central Park Zoo is a favorite of my youngest grandson. It's a nice little zoo. I saw a menagerie of animals such as penguins, sea lions, a red panda, monkeys, and exotic birds among many others. They also have a children's petting zoo.
It's an easy walkable 6.5 acre with some inclines. The place is clean and well maintained. Surprisingly, the zoo is affordable. Plus, they also have a nice gift shop. It is another one of many reasons to visit Central Park.
Keeping in mind this is a small zoo, and our main attraction was that my son watched a lot of Penguins of Madagascar, we really enjoyed our visit. By far our favourite thing was the Tropic area with all the birds. We visited that a second time on our way out.
I recommend reading the ticket descriptions because the main ticket that is advertised for $19something is a combination ticket including a movie. We were interested in the movie so we bought the general admission ticket for $13something
